Chapter 154
Emily’s POV
Slowly, I sat onto the very edge of the mattress, directly opposite him. My muscles were tense, ready to run- even though I knew there was nowhere left to run.
“Is he alive?” I whispered, pushing myself up against the headboard, clutching the sheets to my chest.
Declan stared at me, his crimson eyes glowing in the dim light. “For now. Yes”
My voice broke slightly. “Tell me what I need to do to save him.”
Declan leaned back slowly. “Come here.”
Fear slid ice–cold down my spine. But Nathan was alive, so I stood up
I forced my shaking legs to move and crossed the distance between us. Declan watched me approach with something dangerously close to satisfaction.
When I stopped in front of him, his hand lifted to his mark on my neck before cupping my face.
My stomach twisted with disgust. But there was something worse–that horrible, intoxicating pull his dark power always had over me. I hated that part most. I hated that my body still remembered his touch.
“You betrayed me,” he whispered, his eyes scanning my lips.
I wanted to scream in his face. I betrayed him? He hunted me, forced me into chains, and I was the traitor? But I
pictured Nathan bleeding in a dark cell, and I forced myself to swallow my rage.
“Yes,” I lied, my voice cracking. “I’m sorry.”
Declan let out a harsh, mocking laugh. “No, you’re not. You’re only thinking about your Alpha King and his
pathetic life.”
I kept my mouth shut, tears blurring my vision.
“Tell me,” Declan demanded, his grip tightening on my chin, his fingers bruising my skin. His crimson eyes were ottomless, full of dark madness. “Tell me how much you love him. Beg me to let him live.”
“I’m begging you,” I whispered, a tear finally escaping and sliding down my cheek. “Please, Declan. Spare him.”
“Why should I?”
“Because the dagger won’t obey you the way you think it will!” The words escaped recklessly before I could stop hem. “You need me!”
Declan’s eyes sharpened instantly. Too late–I had already said it. So I kept going.
“If he dies tonight, you lose me too. Not my body. That’s easy to cage. I mean the part you’re actually obsessed with.” My breathing shook violently. “I will never forgive you. I’ll fight you forever. Every second. Every chance I

The 100m went still. Dangerously still.
“But…” My voice cracked, a tear escaping down my cheek. “If you show mercy… If you let him live… I’ll stop ighting you.” Even saying it aloud made me feel sick. “Let him live… and maybe one day I’ll stop looking at you ike I want to carve your heart out”
Declan stared at me in silence. There was no amusement in his face now. No mockery. Only something strange.
Something that looked almost like an aching longing.
A sharp smile touched his mouth. “You still think there’s something soft left in me.”
Then his fingers slid possessively over the mating mark, and a jolt of raw lust twisted through my body. I hated im, especially how that terrible mark inside me still answered his touch.
Declan pulled back slowly, searching my face. Then, without looking away from me, he called out, “Guards!”
The heavy doors opened immediately.
“Take her to the dungeon.”
Hope slammed violently into my chest. Declan brushed his thumb across my wet cheek.
“Yes, little wolf,” he murmured softly. “I can be merciful.”
Relief nearly broke me apart. Then he leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear.
“You’ll have until midnight with him. And then,” he whispered almost tenderly, “I’ll kill him right in front of you. So he never stands between us again. Ever.”
“No!” Panic exploded through me. I tried jerking away, but Declan’s grip turned to iron, his fingers tightening in
ny hair.
“But you said—”
“I said that I’ll allow you a few final hours together,” he whispered darkly. “Traitors don’t deserve more mercy
han that.”
Rage exploded through me so fast it nearly blinded me.
I slammed into him with a scream, nails tearing across his throat, fists hitting his chest again and again like I ould beat the life out of him with my bare hands.
“You sick bastard!”
The guards grabbed me immediately, dragging me backward while I fought like a wild animal.
“Cruel rogue!”
Declan barely even reacted. “That’s true.”
2:03 pm
“I HATE YOU!”
That finally made him smile. It wasn’t a happy look. It was sotnething darker.
“One day you’ll stop fighting me. Everyone does.”
A violent chill crawled through my body. Because suddenly, his eyes looked exactly like Silas’s–bloody, red, and
illed with madness.
“You’ll wear that silver collar for the rest of your very long life, Emily.” He stood up slowly, towering over me. ‘Fight me all you want. You’ll learn very quickly that I’m far better at these games than you are.”
The guards dragged me toward the door, my boots scuffing against the stone floor.
“We have forever ahead of us, little wolf,” that was his last words.
The guards dragged me toward the exit.
“We have forever ahead of us, little wolf.”
Moon Goddess, he’s really going to do it. I stumbled on the stairs, and one of the rogues yanked me up brutally.
“Move.”
The heavy doors slammed shut behind us, and finally–the tears I had been choking back spilled down my face.
Nathan was alive. But midnight was coming. And Declan was going to make me watch him die.
The guards dragged me down the stairs and through endless stone corridors. Down under the rogue’s castle. The air grew thinner, colder, smelling of mildew and old, stále blood.
We entered the dungeon. For one terrible second, I almost broke. Almost.
But then, the familiar scent of pine and rain hit me, Nathan. He was incredibly weak.
We stopped in front of a big cage with iron bars.
Nathan was chained in the center, pinned to the wall. Two thick, rusty silver ehains ran from his wrists to big netal rings deep in the stone behind him. The chains were tight, holding him up.
He was shirtless, his powerful body leaning heavily against the restraints. A thick silver collar–lined around his hroat, pressing into his skin.
The blue light shone on his slumped shoulders and wet hair. He looked beaten and tired, but his body still held hat stubborn posture I knew so well.
Declan thought he had already won.
He thought dragging me down here to see my king in chains would eventually make me kneel. Submit. Break.
He was wrong.
2:03 pm P
held Nathan’s exhausted gaze through the iron bars.
If Declan truly wanted forever with me, then I would make sure that forever became his personal hell.
