Chapter 47
Emily’s POV
“ He’s being sent to another pack. And based on the order — forever. ”
I looked up quickly. Liam stood in the doorway of my room in the residence, wearing that smug look, like he knew every secret in the world and found them all amusing.
“ Who? ” My voice sounded drier than I planned.
“ Owen. ” Liam leaned against the doorframe, flicking away some imaginary lint like he was just talking about the weather, not someone’s whole life – changing.
“ For what? ” I asked, my voice coming out even drier than I meant.
“ Officially? Insubordination, ” Liam said, glancing at his nails. “ But really … ” He waited until I looked at him. “ It’s
you, Emily. You’re the real reason. ”
His words hung in the air, cold and honest.
I looked down at my hands.
“ You have until lunch to say goodbye, ” Liam said, walking into my room. “ It’s cozier now. Mother always knew
how to decorate. ”
I frowned and glanced around. “ I thought this was just a guest room. ”
“ For most people, yes. But she made it for a ‘ special ‘ guest, ” he said, smirking as he sat down and stretched out. I’ve been watching, trying to figure things out. ”
“ Figure out what? ” I crossed my arms, playing along.
“ Why is my brother acting like such an idiot? ” Liam asked, pointing at me. “ You’ve changed, Emily. There’s some teel in you now. Training helped. You’re not that scared little girl anymore. Something old is waking up in you, and
Nathan feels it. ”
I bit my lip. “ Why are you telling me this? You’re his brother. ”
“ Exactly. But I’m tired of watching him turn the pack into a living hell because he’s jealous. He never listens to ne. He growls whenever I mention you. So … ” Liam leaned in, his expression turning serious. “ You and I are going
to make a plan. ”
I leaned in without thinking. “ What plan? ”
“ Plan “ Total Surrender of the Alpha. ‘ We’ll kick Stella out faster than she can say ‘ manipulation. ”
I opened my mouth to argue, but Liam was suddenly next to me. He gently but firmly pressed his palm to my chin, closing my mouth.
“ Don’t catch flies, Emily. ”

“ But I … ”
“ But what? You and Nathan are like two lost puppies. One is scared of his feelings and runs away, the other just waits for things to change. Nothing comes for free in this world, Emily. If you want the Alpha, go get him. ”
I stared at him in disbelief. “ Why are you being nice all of a sudden, Liam? You never cared much about family
values. ”
His face softened for a moment, and I saw something in his eyes I’d never seen before. “ You saw me in that room
when all the Alphas arrived. With that girl. ”
My mind flashed back to the crowded hall full of Alphas, and then that moment. The image of Liam cornering a girl in that tiny room, the chaos when I’d spilled hot coffee all over Nathan, and the sight of him standing there-
hirtless and far too calm.
I shook my head, fighting to force the flush from my face. Focus, Emily.
“ She’s my true mate, ” he said, pride clear in his voice. “ I thought the Moon Goddess had cursed me, that I’d never get this gift because of how I lived. But she’s my other half. She understands me completely. Watching Nathan ruin
is own happiness with his mate … I can’t just watch. ”
He squeezed my shoulder and led me toward the hallway. “ Stella’s settled in here like a weed. She’s holding on to
he Luna title, but she’s missing the most important thing – the bond. You have that. My brother is furious, Emily.
le sent Owen away because jealousy is eating him up. That’s our leverage. We’ll keep pushing. ”
“ Alright, ” I agreed. “ But I need to see Owen first. I need to apologize to him for Nathan. ”
Leaving the house behind, I headed straight for the training field.
The sound of heavy breathing and bodies clashing hit me before I even turned the corner. Owen and Kane were parring, moving with that raw, predatory grace that only wolves have. Kane lunged, but Owen parried with a brutal fficiency that sent him stumbling back.
My boot crunched on the dirt. Owen snapped his head toward me his senses instantly locking onto mine. He lidn’t even look back at Kane – he just stopped mid – fight, slung his bag over his shoulder, and walked straight oward me, his jaw set in a hard, tight line.
“ You didn’t tell me, ” I said, my voice barely steady as he reached me.
୮
He froze, then turned and tried to give me his usual easy smile, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “ Was there a point? ”
“ Owen, this is because of me. It’s not fair. ”
He stepped closer. For a moment, his eyes flashed amber – his wolf was barely under control.
“ Unfair would be staying here and watching him break you, knowing I can’t fight back, ” he said, his voice low and rough. “ He’s the Alpha, Emily. But he’s a coward for getting rid of the competition like this. ”
“ You could challenge the order. You’re the best fighter. ”
He let out a bitter laugh. “ And prove him right? No. I’ll go p>

He slung the bag over his shoulder and started to walk away when I called out, “ Owen! ” He stopped but didn’t Für around. “ You don’t have to do this for me. ”
“ I have to, ” he said sharply, finally facing me. The smile was gone, replaced by a hard, determined look. “ If I stay,
It means I am disobeying a direct order from the Alpha. And that would start a war you’re not ready for. ”
I stood there, stunned by his words.
“ I’ll be back, ” he said. It wasn’t a threat, just a promise.
“ But when I return, everything will be different. ”
He walked away without looking back – proud, straight, and clearly angry.
The phone in my pocket vibrated. I took it out.
Owen: Don’t do anything stupid while I’m gone.
I stared at the screen, Liam’s words and Owen’s confession swirling in my mind. I quickly typed a reply:
Me: I can’t promise anything.
