Chapter 170
Chapter 170
Just after sending Charlotte downstairs, Alice felt the sensation of fever and fainting hitting her again.
She hadn’t rested much in the past few days and had fainted at the airport the day before. Now, she felt weak all over.
She was just about to close her eyes and rest for five minutes in the car when her phone rang abruptly.
Seeing that it was a call from Daryl, her brow twitched, and she had a bad feeling.
“Daryl, what’s wrong? I’m on my way to the hospital p>
“Alice, the doctor said the heart is gone-they can’t proceed with the surgery. What’s going on? I tried to ask, but they kicked out.” Daryl’s voice broke with sobs.

Alice’s mind went blank instantly.
She replied vacantly, “I’m coming right now,” and, without checking whether the call had ended, drove straight to the hospital.
The only thought in her mind was that she had to get to the hospital as soon as possible.
On the way, she ran two red lights and almost hit someone, but she couldn’t care less.
When she arrived at the hospital, she didn’t even bother to close the car door and rushed inside.
At the doctor’s office door, Daryl was already arguing with the doctor.
“You were the ones who called us about the heart. Yesterday, the doctor said my aunt was the first in line for a heart transplant. So where is it now p>
Daryl was in a frenzy, holding a lighter in his hand and grabbing the doctor who was drenched in gasoline.
He had asked earlier, but what did the doctor say?
The doctor said everyone had their own circumstances, and some patients needed the heart more urgently. They would have to keep
waiting.
But Ivy was already first in line, how could someone else get the heart before her?
He tried to argue his case, but the doctor threw him out. Someone even mocked him, telling him to go home and wait for Ivy’s death if he couldn’t wait his turn. How could he accept words like that?
He wandered to the hospital entrance and saw a truck driver washing his hands with gasoline.
Daryl didnt know what he was thinking at the time, but he bought a bottle of gasoline from the driver and went straight to the

doctor’s office.
He had lost his mother when he was young, and his father had passed away a few years ago. Since then, Ivy had been like a mother
to him.
How could he stay calm when the donated heart was gone?
He grabbed the doctor’s hair with one hand and held the lighter with the other.
“Tell me, did you give the donated heart to some rich and powerful person? This is murder! Aunt Ivy deserves to live, too p>
The doctor, though grabbed, remained calm and patiently explained, “Calm down, young man. You’re still in college, right? You must/ understand that donated hearts are prioritized for critically ill patients. Ivy is supposed to live for at at least two or three more years, but the other person won’t survive a month without a heart p>
“We’re just following the rules and regulations. It’s not something a single doctor like me can interfere with p>
“Ivy is still waiting for you to take care of her. You’ll get into trouble if you do this p>
The doctor understood the family’s feelings. It was hard to accept that the heart they had been waiting for was suddenly given to
someone else.
But Daryl couldn’t listen to any of this.
“No, I don’t believe it. Two hours ago, you said the heart was ours. How could there be a critically ill patient in such a short time? I don’t believe it p>
