Chapter 66
Michael closed his eyes and quickly took several steps back.
Immediately, he felt pain in his eyes and throat, and could only keep coughing, unable to say a word.
Alice was slightly better off, but she hadn’t controlled the spray well and some of it had gotten into her eyes.
She coughed as she ran to the bathroom, quickly washing her eyes.
Fortunately, she had prepared in advance and closed her eyes in time, so her vision was restored after a quick rinse.
She often had to meet with people from different companies, and there were quite a few who coveted her beauty, so she always
carried a self-defense spray with her.
If she ever encountered a bad person, she wouldn’t hesitate to defend herself.
She just didn’t expect that the first time she used it would be on Michael.
She recovered after two minutes in the bathroom, but suddenly realized that he had gone quiet outside.
“Michael?” She staggered out and saw him half-kneeling on the ground, drinking bottled water continuously.
She hurried over and met his bloodshot eyes.
He gritted his teeth and glared at Alice.
The burning sensation in his throat hit him again, making it hard to breathe, so he had to drink more water.
Seeing this, Alice quickly put on her clothes. Looks like you’re full of energy, so you should be fine. I’ll be leaving now p>
Just from the way Michael had been with her earlier, she knew he was probably fine.
She had just picked up her bag when he pulled her into his arms.
“If you leave, I’ll call the police and accuse you of rape, Michael said in a hoarse voice, holding her waist tightly.
She was so angry she could hardly speak. How could he say that?
She had thought about it earlier; Michael had a good body and a pretty face, so even if he forced her into sex, she could consider it as her having had great sex with him.
But now he was turning it around and accusing her? How shameless!
She took a deep breath. “Mr. Johnson, are you sure that the police will believe I raped you when they see these hickeys on me p>

Michael squinted at her. Her neck and collarbone were covered in hickeys, her wrists had clear binding marks, and there were other
marks on her body.
She glared at him. “We have no relationship. You should be grateful I’m not holding you accountable. The spray on you was just my
self-defense! Go ahead and call the police if you dare p>
He tightened his grip. He hated her calm and logical demeanor, which was totally infuriating.
Just as she was about to push his hand away, he collapsed onto her, saying, “I can’t see p>
Alice was stunned for a moment, then remembered his bloodshot eyes from earlier.
Her legs were weak from the hours of sex, but she still helped him to the bathroom.
She had researched beforehand that this kind of spray would wear off in about half an hour and wasn’t harmful.
“Just wash it off,” she said, turning on the faucet and hanging a towel around his neck.
Just as she was about to turn away, he started coughing violently. He couldn’t stand and fell to the side.
Alice quickly went back to support him.
Michael was the heir of the Johnson’s family. If something happened to him, she would be in serious trouble.
She helped him drink water and get dressed, then called a waiter to help take him to the hospital.
On the way, his head rested weakly on her shoulder, looking extremely frail.
Alice felt a pang of sadness. She hadn’t seen him like this in a long time. The Michael she knew was always tireless, never showing
any vulnerability.
But now, he seemed like a sick cat, both pitiful and infuriating.
At the hospital, Alice quickly called for emergency care,
The test results left her speechless. Michael was allergic to mint, and the spray she had used contained a lot of it.
She asked the doctor worriedly, “Is it serious p>
“He’s already having trouble breathing, what do you think? the doctor frowned. He needs to stay in the hospital for further observation. We’ll give him an injection first p>
Back in the shared hospital room, she met Michael’s resentful gaze.
His face was flushed, and he couldn’t speak due to the allergy.

She sat by the bed. “Mr. Johnson, do you need me to contact your butler or your secretary p>
Michael glared at her.
She coughed awkwardly. ‘I can stay if you want p>
He quickly typed on his phone: [You must stay. You owe me p>
She didn’t explain and just brought a chair to sit beside him.

She remembered the time she had passed out from period pain, and Michael had taken care of her all night. She could consider this
as repaying the favor.
“Get some rest. There’s no private room available, so you’ll have to make do.” She covered him with a blanket and, seeing his disdainful expression, replaced it with her coat.
Michael, who had a cleanliness obsession, was already making a big concession by staying in a shared room. She didn’t dare ask for
more.
But he didn’t sleep; he just stared coldly at her.
Then he typed on his phone again: [You met with someone from Apex Global Enterprises. Are you planning to leave Suncrest City p>
She didn’t respond, but she felt a chill.
Michael had recognized the HR person from Apex Global Enterprises at a glance, indicating they had met before.
She thought for a moment and said softly, ‘It was just a friend p>
He quickly typed: [Alice, you took sick leave to avoid work, but you can attend parties and socialize. I think you’re using sick leave to defraud the company of compensation p>
Alice didn’t look up, but her heart was pounding. She hadn’t expected him to cause trouble in her last week.
He didn’t pursue the matter further and lay down to sleep.
After five or six minutes, Alice finally breathed a sigh of relief.
If he had pressed the issue, she would have been in trouble.
But she didn’t know what he was thinking. After all, he had approved her resignation. What did he mean just now? Was he not planning to let her go?
Alice remembered what Michael had said at Floyd’s birthday party.
She was his woman, his possession, so he wouldn’t let her leave easily. Was that what he meant?

She stared blankly out the window. The occasional sound of patients coughing in the ward kept her from feeling sleepy.
She knew Michael wasn’t asleep either. He definitely couldn’t sleep in a place with strangers.
Alice sat there all night, unable to sleep.
The next day, Michael had fully recovered, and she took him out of the hospital.
He looked at her car with great reluctance but got in anyway.
Alice hesitated before asking, “Where to? Back to the office p>
“Are you saying I should work right after being discharged?” he looked at her sarcastically.
She took a deep breath and forced a professional smile. “Then where do you want to go p>
She didn’t know where he was staying, so she had to ask.
He closed his eyes. “Take me to where you used to live p>
