Chapter 6
Beta Blake guided me through the corridors of the Royal Administration Building, and I couldn’t stop staring. Sunlight streamed through tall windows, lighting up the polished marble floors. Crystal chandeliers sparkled above, making everything shine. Every painting, carved pillar, and piece of furniture looked expensive.
I had never seen anything like this before. The amount of wealth.here felt overwhelming.
I don’t belong here.
We stopped in front of the double doors at the end of the hallway. Two royal guards stood on each side, watching
ny every move.
“ Go in, ” Blake said shortly.
The heavy doors opened before I had a chance to nod.
The office inside was huge. Dark wood and tall bookshelves covered the walls. A fireplace crackled at the far end, but I still felt cold inside. Alpha King Garrett sat behind a big desk.
The crushing weight of his aura hit me the moment I stepped inside. Nyx fell completely silent in my mind, and every instinct inside me screamed to lower my gaze.
Garrett slowly lifted his golden eyes, locking them onto me.
‘ Sit. ”
My knees shook so hard I nearly collapsed into the chair across from him. The heavy doors shut behind me with a oud thud, leaving me alone with the ruler of the pack territories. I had never felt so tiny and helpless.
Garrett watched me closely. He didn’t look at my injuries or my torn hands. Instead, he looked right through is if judging my worth.
“ Emily, ” he said, his deep voice echoing in the quiet room. “ That’s your name, correct? ”
“ Yes, ” I whispered. I hated how weak I sounded, but I couldn’t steady my voice.
The Alpha King leaned back, his golden eyes narrowing. “ I have a dilemma. ”
My heart raced. I could barely breathe.
me,
“ My son is convinced you’re a rogue spy connected to the attack on the Gray Moon Pack, ” Garrett said, his face completely unreadable.
Panic rose in my gut. But I kept my mouth shut, trembling under the King’s gaze.
“ But my Luna, ” Garrett continued calmly, “ is equally convinced that you are not. ”
The King folded his hands on the desk and leaned forward.

“ So, perhaps you would like to tell me who you truly are. ”
-A cold shiver ran down my spine. “ I- ”
“ I suggest you be completely honest, Emily. ” His voice stayed calm, but the pressure in the room grew even stronger. “ If I have to use the Alpha command, it will be much worse for you. ”
A suffocating weight pressed down on my chest. Nyx whimpered and hid deep in my mind, trying to escape his overwhelming presence. I couldn’t fight a King. Nhad no choice,
“ I’m from the Gray Moon Pack, ” I whispered, tears stinging my eyes.
Garrett’s expression sharpened.
“ I ran away. ” The words felt bitter in my mouth, but Garrett didn’t say anything. He just waited.
“ My fated mate had rejected me that night, ” I looked down at my hands to hide my shame. “ He had chosen my
ister instead. ”
Saying it out loud made the pain of betrayal feel fresh again.
“ I had tried to reject him too, but he hit me before I could finish breaking the bond. ”
A dangerous look flashed in Garrett’s golden eyes.
I swallowed hard and forced myself to keep going. “ I was just trying to escape the abuse. ”
Garrett didn’t move. He just watched me, judging my every blink.
“ I didn’t bring those rogues to the Gray Moon Pack, ” I pleaded softly, locking my eyes with his. “ I swear it on the
Moon Goddess. ”
The room stayed completely silent. My heart pounded in my chest. Please believe me. Please …
Garrett walked to the tall window and looked out at the Training Grounds. Finally, he spoke. “ We’l verify your
tory. ”
Relief hit me so fast I almost sank into the chair. I could finally breathe.
“ But, ” Garrett added, turning to face me with a sharp look, “ while you’re here, don’t cause any more problems for
ne. ”
I nodded quickly.
“ Because if Nathan convinces himself that you are a threat … my son can become very difficult to control. ”
A new wave of worry washed over me. Nathan wouldn’t let this go. He wanted me out. He hated the mate bond
between us.
Garrett walked back to his desk. “ You’re dismissed. ”
The doors opened, and Blake stepped inside.
“ Return Emily to the packhouse and give her a room, ” Garrett ordered.
Blake led me back through the corridors.
Suddenly, a familiar scent drifted from around the corner. The sharp smell of cedar and pine needles filled the
hallway.
Nyx snapped awake inside my head. “ Mate. ”
My pulse skipped. My heart pounded in my chest.
Nathan came around the corner, wearing a tight white t – shirt that showed off his strong, sculpted muscles. He
walked with confidence, looking like a natural leader. This time, he wasn’t alone.
Beside him walked another young man. He looked younger than Nathan, but the family resemblance was clear.
[ all and broad, though he couldn’t match Nathan’s massive build, he carried a touch of boyish arrogance.
The third was a man with golden – blond hair and sharp blue eyes. He moved with a relaxed but dangerous
Confidence.
The moment his blue eyes locked onto me, he stopped dead in his tracks.
Blake straightened his posture. “ Alpha Marcus, ” he greeted respectfully, looking at the blond wolf, then nodded o the younger one. “ Liam. ”
“ Oh, come on, ” Liam complained, rolling his eyes. “ You always greet him first. ”
Blake didn’t blink.
“ That’s because I’m more charming, ” Marcus said with a crooked grin. His blue eyes never left me. He didn’t look t me with pity or disgust like Nathan did. Instead, his eyes flared with sudden, dark desire. He looked completely aptivated.
“ Nathan, why didn’t you tell me that a goddess was hiding in your pack? ”
I froze, caught under his intense stare.
Marcus ignored everyone else and stepped right up to me. He moved with easy charm, reaching out his large, attooed hand. His knuckles brushed gently along my jaw, right next to a fading bruise. His touch felt warm.
“ I’m Marcus. And you are? ”
“ Get your hands off her. ”
Before Marcus could blink, Nathan …
