Nathan’s POV

Every instinct in me wanted to tear Stellà apart, not ask her to come to my home office.

“ I know, Alpha, ” Asher tried to calm me, his calculating tone echoing in my mind. “ But remember who you are doing this for. We are doing this for Emily ”

I closed my eyes, took a shaky breath, and opened the mind – link.

“ Stella, ” I linked her.

“ Nathan, babe! I am so glad to hear your voice! ” she answered instantly, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Hearing her voice in my head made my stomach twist. I felt sick, but had to pretend.

“ Can you come up to the residence? ” I asked, making my voice sound desperate. “ I just got back from the forest, and I feel alone. I need you, Stella. I need your support. Right now, you’re the only one I can count on. ”

“ Of course, honey! ” she squealed, completely taking the bait. “ I will be there in ten minutes! ”

“ Great. I’m in my home office. I can’t wait to see you, ” I responded, cutting the link.

I quickly checked my pocket to make sure the heavy silver cuffs were close by. I adjusted them so my clothes wouldn’t look suspicious.

Those ten minutes felt like the longest of my life. I couldn’t stop thinking about Emily. Where was she? Was she cold? Was someone hurting her? As her fated Alpha, shouldn’t I be able to feel if she was in pain?

The more I wondered, the more my heart broke.

Then the heavy front doors creaked open downstairs. Stella’s overly sweet scent filled the air, making my wolf oristle. She walked into my office with a big, triumphant smile.

Pure, unadulterated rage rushed through me. I wanted to wipe that smug look off her face.

She sat close to me on the couch and kissed my cheek. It burned against my skin.

“ Did you find Emily? ” she asked, her voice cracking with a disgusting, fake sadness.

How had I been so blind? How had I missed this? How did I never see how fake she was? She lied, letting out a heavy, defeated sigh. “ I guess she really did cross the border. ”

“ Oh, I feel so terrible that she ran away all by herself, ” Stella sighed, leaning back. “ Though … I honestly thought Owen would go with her. I felt like something was starting to bloom between those two. ”

I dug my fingernails so deeply into my palms that I clenched my fists so hard my nails broke the skin. I stared out the window to keep from losing control. I couldn’t look at her, and I definitely couldn’t listen to her suggest my mate was with Owen.

“ Kiss me, ” 1pleaded, my voice hoarse with feigned desperation. “ I just want to forget everything in your arms. ”

Come on, Stella, I thought as narrowed my eyes. Take the bait.

She smiled brightly and nodded.

She stood up and swayed her hips, trying to be seductive. It looked so fake I almost gagged. She put her hands on

ny chest and slid them up to my shoulders.

“ Oh, Nathan, I’m so happy you finally realize who truly matters, ” she whispered against my skin. “ I’m going to nake you the happiest Alpha in the world. You’ll never have to think about her again. ”

I violently grabbed her wrists, trapping them in my grip.

“ Actually, I want something else today, ” I growled.

“ What’s that? ” she breathed, leaning in to press her lips to my jaw.

A shudder of absolute disgust ran down my spine.

“ I want you rough. ”

Before she could even process the words, I spun her around with brutal Alpha strength, slamming her face down against my oak desk. Her chest heaved against the wood, her hips pinned high beneath me.

“ Oh, Nathan, yes … I want you so bad, ” she groaned, arching her back and spreading her legs wider.

Did she really think I would ever touch her after what she did to Emily?

“ Baby, you’re going to scream for me, ” I whispered darkly, continuing the twisted game.

In one swift move, I pulled her hands behind her back, grabbed the heavy silver cuffs from my pocket, and snapped them around her wrists. The silver burned my fingers, but ignored the pain!

“ That hurts! ” she shrieked, her arousal instantly vanishing as the silver began to sap her wolf’s strength.

Asher howled with satisfaction inside me.

“ And now, we are finally going to have a real conversation, ” I hissed, ripping her up and spinning her around so her lower back slammed against the edge of the desk.

“ You are going to tell me everything, Stella, ” I snarled, leaning into her face. “ But not here, sweetheart. Let’s go somewhere with a bit more … atmosphere. ”

Ten minutes later, I dragged her down to the dark, damp pack dungeon. She kept tripping over her high heels, her skirt making it hard to walk. Every second in that stone corridor felt endless.

Finally, I opened an iron door and pushed her inside. Beta Blake was already waiting in the shadows.

“ Blake? Nathan, what the hell is going on?! ” Stella demanded, her voice cracking with panic as she turned to me.

She opened her eyes wide, trying to play the clueless victim. “ Nathan, why would I know where that girl is? ”

“ Stop lying, you bitch! ” I growled, my Alpha aura leaking into the room. “ We know every single thing you did to er. We know you tried to get rid of her to keep the crown for yourself. Where is she?! ”

Stella’s face drained of color, pure terror flashing in her eyes. “ I … I don’t … I don’t know what you’re talking

“ Stella, my warriors are tearing your house apart right now, ” I said, keeping my voice calm. “ Your parents are lownstairs, cuffed in silver and being interrogated. We’ll find the evidence soon. Cooperate now, or it will be worse

“ Let my parents go! ” she screamed, shaking her cuffs. “ I didn’t do anything! That bitch ran away from the pack

because she couldn’t handle the truth! I don’t know what was in her head or where she ran! You’re blaming me for

nothing! ”

In a flash, I grabbed her throat, cutting off her air.

“ If you talk about my mate like that again, I’ll make you beg for death, ” I whispered. My voice was so cold I saw

I threw her back into the chair and sat down across from her. “ I am giving you one final chance to confess and tell

An Alpha’s command was brutal. If a wolf tried to resist, it felt like fire in their veins. Even without resistance, the

“ Nathan, please … I swear I don’t know! ” she sobbed, tears finally streaming down her face.

That was it. I lost all patience.

“ TELL ME THE TRUTH! WHERE IS SHE?! ” I roared, unleashing the full, suffocating weight of my Alpha aura.

The power was so strong that even Blake bent over at the door from the pressure. Stella screamed, clutching her

head as the force overwhelmed her.

“ I don’t know! Please, make it stop! I don’t know! ” she shrieked.

My instincts told me she wasn’t lying. But how? Every single piece of evidence pointed to her.

“ But you wanted her gone, didn’t you? ” I hissed, keeping the pressure heavy enough to suffocate her.

“ Did you push her off the cliff?? ” I roared, asking the question that was tearing my soul apart.

“ No! It wasn’t me! ” she gasped, drowning under my aura.

I snapped the pressure off. The room went quiet, save for the sound of Stella choking on her breaths.

“ Then where did you get those heavy gold bracelets? ” I demanded, leaning over the table. “ The ones reeking of a

ove potion? Did a witch help you? ”

“ It wasn’t a witch, ” she wheezed out, turning her face away from me.

I lunged across the metal table, my claws out, and grabbed her jaw, forcing her to look at me.

“ Do not lie to me, Stella, or I will tear the truth out of your mind myself! ”

Terror flashed in her eyes. She knew I was serious.

“ I’m not lying, Nathan! ” she cried out through squeezed lips. “ A witch isn’t the only person in this pack who can

nix a potion! ”

My mind went blank. Who else could have that kind of knowledge?

“ Oh, Nathan … ” Stella let out a twisted, breathless laugh, using the last of her strength to mock me. “ Is there eally something about your own pack that the great Alpha doesn’t know? Honestly, the pain was worth it just to

see the look on your face. ”

I squeezed her jaw until the bone cracked beneath my fingers.

“ Who?! ” I hissed through clenched teeth, my wolf roaring for blood. “ Give me a name! ”

Stella winced in agony, her face contorting as she gasped out the final betrayal.
