Chapter 213
Chapter 213:
It was ten o’clock on a Thursday morning when Craig and I were sprawled on the couch, without a worry in the world. My head rested in his lap while some random TV show filled the room. He kept cracking jokes, hoping my nerves wouldn’t tighten every time I thought about the wedding.
We were talking louder than we realized, and the television drowned out everything else. We never noticed the car that pulled up outside or the man who kept knocking at the door. By the time we realized someone was trying to come in, it was too late. The door swung wide open, and my fiancé appeared in the doorway with a stare sharp enough to cut stone. He slammed it so hard I nearly slid off Craig’s lap.
I shot to my feet as Daniel strode toward us with a look so razor-edged it could have torn the room apart.
“What is going on here, Sophia?” he snapped, his voice ringing as if he expected the walls to answer. His eyes stayed locked on Craig, even though he was questioning me.
I refused to give him the reaction he wanted, so I met his anger with a calm voice. “What are you doing here p>

“Don’t answer my question with another question. What is going on here? Who is he, and why were you lying in his lap p>
I lifted a brow at him, then rolled my eyes with obvious irritation. “That’s none of your business, Mr. Kelley. And you should remember you’re in my house, so you don’t get to barge in and yell at anyone p>
The look he gave me sent a chill through my body, but I kept my feet planted. I saw the tension in his face as he stepped closer, and I braced myself.
“Maybe it isn’t my business, but we’re getting married, and you won’t be flirting with anyone. You’ll carry my last name, and that means you need boundaries,” he said, low and tight.
“I wasn’t flirting with him,” I replied, trying not to let this turn ridiculous.
“Oh, yeah? Then tell me why you were lying in his lap p>
His gaze never settled on me. Instead, it stayed fixed on Craig, and the sight of his clenched fists made me step forward until I stood between them.
“He’s my best friend. He’s my assistant. He’s my roommate. Now that you understand, you can stop looking at him like you want to start a fight. Just tell me why you came here p>
He finally looked at me, his face slipping back into that cold, unreadable mask he seemed to prefer.
“Pack your things. You’re moving in with me p>
“What?” I blurted.
“You heard me. Pack your things. We’re leaving p>
“Can we at least wait until after the wedding p>
“No. You can pack, or you can leave with nothing p>
I stared at him, stunned, before a frustrated sigh escaped me.
“Fine. Craig, come help me pack.” I took Craig’s arm and started up the stairs, but Daniel stepped in and yanked my hand away with a sharp tug.
“No. Stay here. I’ll handle it p>
