Chapter 241
Chapter 241:
“Stay here, Cuchita. No wild jumps today,” I warned, setting her near the edge of the pool. The idea of warning my cat made me giggle, since I knew she’d never dare touch the water.
Music felt like the perfect company for an afternoon swim, so I checked my phone and put on a romantic playlist before slipping off my robe and diving in. I swam lap after lap until they blurred together, letting the rhythm of the water ease the weight on my shoulders. When my arms grew tired, I rolled onto my back and floated, letting my mind wander too. The world felt far away—so quiet I almost fell asleep.
That bliss shattered the moment a voice—cold as the pool itself—cut through the silence. I didn’t even need to look to know who was standing at the edge; his presence was unmistakable.
“Are you really planning to fall asleep in there p>
Internally, I rolled my eyes before cracking them open, and sure enough, Daniel stood only a few feet from my towel and phone. There was no sign of my cat—she must’ve gone back inside while I relaxed.
“I’m not reckless enough to take a nap here,” I replied, making it clear his question was ridiculous.
“Oh, really?” He arched a brow, a faint smile curving his lips as he slid his hands into his pockets.

“What are you doing here, Daniel?” I looked away, suddenly aware of his eyes on me. Determined not to let it bother me, I began slow, steady kicks, swimming toward the other end of the pool.
“We need to talk.” The teasing edge disappeared from his tone, turning more serious as he started walking along the poolside to follow me.
“We’re talking right now, aren’t we?” I called back, keeping my focus on the gentle movement of my feet in the water.
“Sophia, I’m serious. This is important p>
I let out a long sigh, finally stopping in the middle of the pool. “Fine. Talk, then. I’m all ears p>
“Not like this p>
I shot him an annoyed look.
“I’d rather have this conversation when you’re wearing more than a swimsuit.” That made me laugh, and I raised my brows.
“Oh, is that how it works? So if I put on clothes, suddenly we’ll have a proper conversation? Is that the new rule you just made up? Or do you think your big announcement will disappear along with my swimsuit p>
Daniel’s lips curved into a wicked smile. “It’s not that, sweetheart. I may not be your biggest fan, but I’m still a man, you know p>
The word “man” seemed to echo, making me swallow hard.
“And right now, I’m mainly your husband, and I have blood in my veins, so it’s normal for me to lose control a little when you’re like this—showing all that skin.” My chest tightened at the hungry look in his eyes, the heat and longing as clear as day. “But hey, if you’re determined to talk out here, I’m in. Just keep in mind I can’t guarantee I’ll behave when you’re standing in front of me like that p>
“You’re shameless,” I snapped, narrowing my eyes as I climbed out of the water.
