Chapter 329
Chapter 329:
“Is the Félix you were calling out in your dream the same man we saw at the restaurant tonight p>
“How do you know that? Did you hear me p>
“You were screaming in your sleep,” I replied, not letting her dodge the question. “You kept asking for help. You kept begging him to stop. What happened between you and Félix p>
Instead of answering, she wiped her tears and turned her face away, refusing to look at me.
“Thank you for waking me. I’m fine now. You should go get some rest p>
“You still haven’t answered me. Did Félix hurt you p>
She shook her head again—silent, unconvincing.
“Are these nightmares connected to your past?” I pressed, softer this time. “Sophia, be honest with me. Did Félix do something to you p>
She looked me in the eyes then and let out a laugh that didn’t fit the moment at all.
“I appreciate your concern, Mr. Kelley, but truly, I’m fine. Please go back to your room p>
“Sophia p>

“There are many things I can’t explain to you.” A long silence stretched between us. “Honestly, it’s probably better if I keep them to myself. We aren’t really together. We’re not even friends. Soon we’ll each go our separate ways. The less you know about me, the better it will be for both of us p>
“Why won’t you try to open up to me? Maybe I can help p>
She laughed again, but her tears betrayed her. With trembling hands, she wiped her face and shook her head.
“It’s not possible, Mr. Kelley.” She pressed her palms to her cheeks, as if she could erase her pain. I was about to ask again, but she cut me off with an exhausted look.
“Please. I just want to be alone. I need to sleep p>
There was nothing else I could do. With a sigh, I turned toward the door. When I glanced back one last time, she was already curled up, her back to me.
I closed the door softly behind me and pulled out my phone to call my mother immediately. As I walked toward my own room, I listened to the phone ring, silently begging her to answer quickly. I couldn’t stand the thought of waiting until morning.
She finally picked up after what felt like an eternity. “Sweetheart, what is it? Why are you calling so late? Did something happen? Is Sophia alright p>
“No, Mom. Nothing’s wrong. We’re both fine,” I said, cutting her off before she could imagine the worst.
“Then tell me what’s going on. Why are you calling in the middle of the night p>
I hesitated, then let out a deep sigh.
“I need to ask you something about Sophia p>
“What is it p>
“Mom, do you happen to know a man named Félix De Luca? Is he connected to Sophia in any way p>
My mother went quiet.
“Mom? Are you still there p>
“How did you come across that name p>
“That isn’t important right now. I just need to know if you know anything about him p>
“Sweetheart, I’m really not the person you should be asking about this p>
