Chapter 232
Chapter 232:
We were halfway to the bedroom when the office door swung open. Daniel and Andrew came out, but it wasn’t the two of them who caught my attention. It was seeing my cat curled up comfortably in Daniel’s arms.
I nudged Craig, and he followed my line of sight. The moment he saw her, I heard him catch his breath.
Both men were scratching her head casually, and she seemed perfectly content. For a cat who didn’t tolerate almost anyone, that alone was surprising.
I walked over to them with Craig behind me.
“Wow! My Cuchita really likes you guys!” I blurted out without thinking.
“What?” Daniel said, frowning as Andrew froze with wide eyes.
“Oh! I meant my cat Cuchita likes all of you,” I said, trying to fix the mess I’d caused.
I forced a small smile as I moved a little closer to Daniel. His gaze felt almost too intense, and Craig’s old joke echoed in my head. He’d once teased, “Of all the names you could’ve picked, you really chose Cuchita p>
“So she’s yours?” Daniel asked, and I nodded immediately.

“Yes, she’s my cat p>
“And remind me, what was her name again?” Andrew asked, doing his best to seem calm even though he was struggling to contain a grin.
“Her name is Cuchita p>
“Oh my God. You really named your cat Cuchita p>
His composure crumbled and he burst out laughing.
I watched him, unsure whether he found the name ridiculous or simply enjoyed saying it out loud.
Daniel seemed to be enjoying himself more than ever, and the gleam in his eyes made that very clear. The moment he noticed me watching, he wiped the amusement from his face and replaced it with his usual stiff, unreadable expression.
“Hey, little one, where were you?” I said as I lifted my kitten from his arms.
My breath caught for a moment, and I swallowed hard when my chest brushed against his hand as I tried to reach her.
I pushed aside the sudden shiver that ran down my spine and hugged my Cuchita as I walked toward the stairs.
I’d just set foot on the first step when Daniel called out to me.
“Where are you going?” he asked, and his frown made me turn around.
“To my room. Where else?” I replied without hesitation.
“And what are you planning to do there p>
His question made me raise my eyebrows.
“I’m going to change my clothes. What’s the problem p>
He kept repeating the same question, and his deepening frown showed exactly what he thought about it.
“With him in the same room p>
“Yes, and what’s the problem? He needs to change his shirt too p>
“Are you serious? He’s going to change inside your room p>
I blinked several times, surprised by how close he suddenly was, and he looked at me as if I’d grown another head.
“Of course. He’s my best friend p>
“Even so, he’s still a man p>
“No. He’s gay p>
That answer stopped him cold.
My eyes caught the shift in his expression, full of astonishment as he looked at Craig standing behind me.
“Come on, Craig. Let’s go p>
