Chapter 168
Chapter 168:
Noelle was left speechless.
Dorothy let out a heavy sigh, one that seemed to come from deep inside, realizing Jaxton had agreed all along but was too stubborn to say it out loud.
Now that Jaxton was willing, Dorothy looked over at Noelle. “How about you, Noelle? This could be an excellent chance for you p>
Noelle was about to respond when her phone buzzed twice in quick succession. Two messages had come through.
They were from Brock, directed to NoMo’s number. “NoMo, my new album’s dropping next month, but I’m still missing a melody for one of the songs. Think you could help me out p>
“It’s been ages since our last project together. I’d honestly love the chance to work with you again.” He even threw in an annoyingly sweet emoji to seal the deal.
Noelle stared at the screen, her face unmoved but internally recoiling. That emoji alone was enough to make her want to toss the phone.
Noelle left Brock’s messages unanswered.
She glanced at Dorothy. “Hey, is Brock dropping his album next month too? Are their releases going head-to-head p>
Dorothy’s brows drew together. “Brock was supposed to launch two months from now, but he just bumped it up. Now he’s releasing the same month as Jaxton. With both their names trending all the time, it’s turning into a showdown—everyone’s placing bets on who’ll top the charts p>

In reality, Jaxton was putting out a three-song EP, while Brock’s project was a full-length album with ten tracks. Even if Jaxton’s fans bought every song, Brock’s album would probably rack up more in total sales.
Noelle’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “Dorothy, I agree to write a song for Jaxton p>
Dorothy froze in surprise, then her eyes lit up. “You mean it? That’s amazing p>
Jaxton, on the other hand, shot her a suspicious look. “What changed your mind all of a sudden p>
With a sly grin, Noelle tossed his earlier words right back at him. “I changed my mind. Now I’m interested. I want to collaborate—so what p>
Jaxton was left speechless. Damn. He stared her down with a lingering look.
Dorothy rapped her knuckles on the desk, snapping everyone’s focus back. “Alright, let’s get into the EP details. Jaxton, which track still needs an arrangement p>
Jaxton slouched back into the couch, absently twirling a ring around his finger. “The only one left is the hardest track on the list p>
The hardest?
Dorothy instantly caught on. She scrolled through her phone, then handed it to Noelle. “Here—this is the song’s concept p>
Noelle skimmed the notes. The mood was heavy, shadowed. Now her curiosity was hooked. “Got it. I see where you’re going p>
Jaxton raised an eyebrow, surprised at how quickly she’d caught on. “You sound pretty sure of yourself. How soon can you finish it p>
“You’ll have it by tomorrow night,” Noelle answered without hesitation.
He stared at her, momentarily thrown. That was far quicker than he expected. Even Dorothy blinked in surprise.
