Chapter 194
Chapter 194
Alice felt a tightness in her chest that wouldn’t go away.
She stood in the law firm’s lobby, repeatedly pondering the question of whether Michael had helped.
She never dared to hope that Michael would have even a shred of compassion for her; he was a heartless person, at least towards
her.
But thinking about how he had gone all out for Aiden, even snatching that heart, she thought maybe Michael did help her.
No matter who the heart was for, Michael would have taken it.
After all, she had no place in Michael’s heart, but Aurora was different.
He wanted to marry Aurora, so of course, he wanted his future father-in-law to live well.
Then maybe out of guilt, or fear of retribution, Michael helped her. It made sense, didn’t it?
Thinking of this, Alice’s resentment lingered.
On the way back by taxi, she suddenly received a call from Vaughn.
She hesitated for a moment but eventually answered.
“Alice, I know about your mother and cousin’s situation. I’ve already suppressed the public opinion, so you don’t need to worry
anymore p>
“The hospital has been informed, and they won’t pursue the matter further. The media will also speak on your behalf, so there won’t
be any issues.
Upon hearing Vaughn’s words, Alice understood.
With the online uproar, the Johnson Group’s PR team must have reported the content to Vaughn.
After all, she was previously a senior secretary at the Johnson Group, and such a scandal would inevitably involve the company.
The hospital’s actions were already questionable, and it involved Aurora, who was Michael’s girlfriend.
If the Johnson Group didn’t step in to calm the public opinion, the future direction of the narrative would be uncertain.
She knew Vaughn was kind to her, but she was self-aware enough not to think the Johnson family did all this just for her.
But she was still grateful.

Chapter 194
‘Mr. Johnson, I saw the hospital’s statement. Thank you p>
Alice, there’s no need for thanks between us. Serafina also said it’s a small matter, so don’t worry about it.’ Vaughn’s voice was
gentle, but Alice felt a bit downhearted.
To the Johnson family, this was just a small matter that could be handled just by a phone call.
But for her, it was a major issue that involved running around and being humiliated without getting any understanding.
The gap between her and the Johnson family was wide, and she had always known it.
Alice smiled self-deprecatingly; she used to like Michael, which was really overestimating herself.
“Mr. Johnson, has Dr. Warner also agreed to forgive my cousin p>
Alice was a bit anxious, as Lyle was the real victim, and the hospital’s statement could only help a bit.
“Don’t worry, we’ve talked to Lyle. He’s reasonable. With some compensation and a promotion, his family won’t say much p>
I’ll cover the compensation, Mr. Johnson. Please let me handle this, or I’ll feel guilty p>
After Alice’s insistence, Vaughn agreed to let her pay.
To him, it was a small amount, just a meal’s worth.
But to Alice, it was a big deal.
They chatted a bit more.
Vaughn sighed, “You should come back for a meal sometime. Rosalind misses you. She thinks of you like a granddaughter, and she
feels something is missing without you p>
Alice agreed but didn’t make any promises.
She knew Michael didn’t like her appearing in front of his family.
But since the Johnson family had helped her so much, she had to thank them in person.
She had to choose a perfect timing to do it without running into Michael.
After hanging up, she sent a WhatsApp message to Lucy.
Lucy seemed busy and replied over an hour later.
In Lucy’s message, public opinion was still very favorable toward Daryl, and the hospital didn’t want to pursue the matter. With
Lyle’s letter of forgiveness, it was basically resolved.

Chapter 194
Seeing this, Alice finally felt relieved.
If something happened to Daryl again, she wouldn’t know what to do.
Alice returned to her apartment and collapsed on the sofa.
She was exhausted and her head was foggy, but she was happy.
She looked out the window; it was a beautiful day.
She slept until the afternoon when a WhatsApp notification woke her up p>
Uriah had replied, simply saying she didn’t need to thank him.
Alice didn’t feel disappointed; instead, she felt warm inside.
Having someone always helping her, standing by her side, made her feel not so alone.
Uriah had made a lot for breakfast, which she reheated and ate.
Then she went downstairs to buy a bouquet of sunflowers. She loved sunflowers but was usually too busy to take care of them.
Especially after Michael once scattered the petals all over her naked body, she hadn’t bought sunflowers since, always afraid what
new trouble Michael might cause.
She looked at the sunflowers in her hand and took a picture to send to Uriah.
[They are beautiful p>
Uriah called her immediately, ‘Did you suddenly have an epiphany after drinking too much? Have you figured everything out p>
“Not really.” Alice felt a bit embarrassed. “You’ve been busy, so you probably haven’t seen the online opinion. The hospital has clarified the facts, so you don’t need to find someone to help me p>
She knew Uriah would help her, but she couldn’t always owe him favors.
Uriah raised an eyebrow. “Who did that p>
He didn’t think the hospital would do such a thing; someone must have been behind it.
Mr. Vaughn Johnson. He helped, and the hospital clarified the facts. Dr. Warner also agreed to forgive my cousin, so it’s probably
resolved. Alice’s tone was much lighter.
But Uriah asked meaningfully, Really p>
Yes, the lawyer also said my cousin would just get a minor punishment, so there shouldn’t be any problems.” Alice didn’t dare to be

too sure; she wouldn’t know for certain until the last moment.
“That’s good, congratulations p>
Uriah politely ended the call but had his suspicions.
“He had said he would handle the matter, but why was it Vaughn?
Even if he didn’t want credit, there was no need to give it to someone else.
If he had to give it to someone, it would be better to give it to him, so Alice could trust him more.
Uriah couldn’t understand this, but he knew one thing: Vaughn didn’t have time for such small matters.
The Johnson Group had been competing with the Savage family for a project recently.
It had been a close fight, but after Vaughn met with the person in charge, the Savage family lost.
Elijah had thrown a big fit over it.
Vaughn wanted the project and to help Alice? Highly unlikely
So was it Vaughn or Michael who helped?
That was intriguing.
