Chapter 41
Hearing Mira’s words, everyone else was stunned.
Michael glanced at Alice, and the driver quickly drove to the hospital.
What was supposed to be a half-hour drive took only fifteen minutes to get there.
The driver recognized the icy warning in Michael’s expression and didn’t hesitate for a second.
Alice was still unconscious and was carried out of the car by Michael.
Doctors and nurses rushed over, asking what had happened, and swiftly guided Alice into the treatment room.
It was more than half an hour later when the doctor finally came out.
“You, yes, come over here. Are you the husband p>
The doctor’s gaze shifted to Michael, silently signaling that Alice’s details couldn’t be shared with anyone else.
Michael didn’t argue and walked over directly. “How is she p>
“She has some alcohol poisoning and a bit of severe gastritis. She shouldn’t drink so much in the future p>
Michael’s tailored suit and gleaming diamond cufflinks caught the doctor’s eye, a quiet signal of his wealth.
The doctor shook his head. “She had a miscarriage. You young couples need to be careful. No sex in the early stages of pregnancy. There will be more chances for children in the future p>
“Did you have too much fun today? Drinking while pregnant… and sex? No wonder the baby didn’t survive! Miscarriages take a
serious toll on the body p>
Michael was slightly stunned, and then his brows furrowed.
He didn’t like using condoms and had never worn one when having sex with Alice. She would always take pills afterward.
Could it be that she didn’t expect him to visit the mountain branch, and that’s why she skipped the pill?
Thinking about this made him a bit irritable.
Alice didn’t wake up until the next morning.
She only felt a splitting headache, or rather, her whole body ached.
“Water. She croaked.

On the bedside table. Michael’s cold voice sounded.
ม
Alice struggled to open her eyes and indeed saw Michael sitting beside her.
He leaned against the wall, looking at her with obvious impatience.
She looked at him curiously. “Why are you here? What happened to me p>
She had vague memories after drinking too much yesterday and didn’t remember how she got to the hospital.
But she could roughly guess what had happened.
“They say you’re smart, but you can’t remember this?” He sat on the edge of the bed, frowning at her.
She thought carefully. She could remember drinking too much at the bar and having sex with him in the restroom.
She should have gotten out of the car and then kept vomiting. She couldn’t remember anything after that.
She shook her head, trembling slightly. “I just remember drinking too much… then getting into your car. After that, everything’s a
blur.
“You drank too much, got alcohol poisoning, and have gastritis,” Michael said calmly. “The main thing is, you had a miscarriage p>
Alice opened her mouth, looking at him in disbelief.
She never suspected she was pregnant again. For months, she’d felt off, but she assumed it was just lingering effects from the
previous miscarriage.
She didn’t expect pregnancy again and had another miscarriage.
Her eyes filled with tears. Their second child was also gone.
An indescribable pain swept over her, making it hard to breathe, as if she could die at any moment.
She started gasping for air, looking extremely frightened.
Michael kept staring at her, feeling uncomfortable seeing her like this.
He stood up. I was kidding, it’s just your period p>
Alice snapped back to reality. “What did you say?
Seeing her dazed expression, He explained, “You just drank too much, causing excessive blood circulation, making your period irregular. Your friend scared me, saying you had a miscarriage. I was only repeating her words p>
In Michael’s impression, Alice had always been strong. Except for the first year she joined the company, he hadn’t seen Alice cry

much after that.
Even when facing setbacks at work, she always dealt with them strongly. Why was she so fragile today?
Was it because of the child?
Thinking about her family, he turned his head. He knew she always cared about family and probably wanted a family of her own.
Unfortunately, he didn’t want to give her a family.
Alice lay on the bed, not speaking for a long time.
No wonder she was in so much pain yesterday. She had always had painful periods, so it all made sense now.
If she had truly miscarried again, she wouldn’t even know how to pray for her lost child. A gnawing sense of failure made her question if she was ever a good mother.
Seeing her sigh in relief, Michael was a bit unhappy. “Are you relieved p>
Alice didn’t know why he was angry again, but she just nodded silently.
If she were pregnant, it would also be hard for him to explain to his family.
A period was much easier. She thought of Aurora’s tendency to cry and felt a headache.
“Yes, otherwise, it would be very troublesome, wouldn’t it? She looked at him quietly, with no emotion in her eyes.
He snorted, handing her the water cup. “You better think that way p>
Alice took the water cup without saying anything.
She was already very grateful that he didn’t leave her on the roadside yesterday.
Given his personality, it was very likely he would have done that. Her life was never a matter to him.
Seeing her fully awake, Michael turned to leave.
As he walked to the ward door, Alice suddenly spoke, Mr. Johnson, how did you feel when you heard I had a miscarriage?
Her hand tightly gripped the blanket, trying to keep her voice calm.
She could guess he wouldn’t care, but at that moment, she wanted to know his thoughts.
He turned to her. “If you were pregnant, what would you do p>
The two of them stared at each other silently, neither speaking further.

After an unknown amount of time, Alice suddenly smiled. ‘Of course, I would abort it. I know my place and wouldn t do anything
beyond my position p>
That’s good to hear p>
With that, Michael turned and left the ward. Her smiling face made him feel even more irritated.
But when he opened the car door and saw the bloodstains inside, he paused.
The driver immediately spoke, “Mr. Johnson, I’ll take you back first and then clean the car p>
He knew Michael’s obsession with cleanliness and couldn’t afford to make him angry.
Michael snorted, “Why not just throw it away? Do you think I care about this money p>
*Change everything to black. No, let Aurora choose. Get rid of all this p>
He remembered that Alice had insisted on buying this set of gray car mats.
She liked clean colors and thought all black was too dull.
He looked at the air freshener. “Throw that away too. No more air fresheners in my car.
Getting rid of Alice’s things was fine. It didn’t matter.
