Chapter 111
Chapter 111:
“Leona is losing it. She won’t sign anything unless I agree to give her half of everything I have. Now she’s decided to play the victim, telling everyone I cheated while we were still together. She’s trying to make people believe I had an affair with you and that she didn’t start seeing anyone else until after we split up. My lawyers know she’s twisting everything, but her lawyers are determined to find something—anything—that lets her walk away with half of what I have,” he said, his voice rough with frustration.
I could hear how tense he was. The stress and anger weighing on him made me feel even more upset. How could that woman lie like that? I knew the truth. She was the one who cheated, not him.
“But… why? That isn’t true at all, Davidson. I’m so sorry. I feel like I’m only making this harder for you,” I blurted, guilt and worry rushing through me.
He turned sharply, his eyes locked on mine.
“No. Don’t even start with that, sweetheart. None of this is your fault. She’s doing it because she’s manipulative, selfish, and furious she isn’t getting her way. She just wants to keep controlling things so I’ll keep doing whatever she wants,” he said firmly.
“I know that’s how she is, but Davidson… what if she really twists it? What if people actually believe you and I had an affair? She could end up taking half of everything you’ve built. That isn’t right,” I said, my worry plain on my face.
He pulled me onto his lap and wrapped one arm around my waist. With the other hand, he tilted my chin up gently, guiding my eyes to his. His thumb stroked my cheek.
“Listen to me, Winona. None of this is your fault. I’ll find a way to keep her from taking half of everything. I have proof she was the one cheating while we were still married. She can’t prove anything because nothing happened between us back then. And even if she wins, what does it matter? Money isn’t everything. I’d still have enough to start over, and maybe starting over wouldn’t be so bad. Please, don’t blame yourself. It’s not your fault. Not now. Not ever,” he explained, his voice steady and sincere.
I shook my head, managing a small smile, though I hated the thought of her lying and scheming to get what she wanted. All of it because he’d finally moved on, even though she’d changed long before their marriage ever ended.
Davidson leaned in and kissed me softly, then pulled me into his chest, holding me tight. I melted into him, letting the warmth of his arms wrap around me. I knew he needed comfort after a day like this.
“I’m not going to let her ruin what we have. Let her do whatever she wants,” he whispered into my hair.

I lifted my head slowly, met his eyes, and brushed his cheek with my fingertips. I smiled, and he smiled back, the tension in his eyes easing a little.
“I’m crazy about you. You know that, right?” he murmured, his voice soft and sincere.
“Leona isn’t going to come between us, Winona. It doesn’t matter what she does or what she tries to take from us,” he said, firm with conviction.
I leaned in and pressed my lips gently to his, kissing him for a brief, quiet moment before pulling back, keeping my face close to his.
