Chapter 187
Chapter 187:
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kelley.” I offered my hand, but he pulled me into a warm hug, just like his wife had.
“No need for formalities, Sophie. You can call me Dad p>
“I agree with him, dear. You can call me Mom now, Sophie p>
I managed a hesitant smile and glanced at Mrs. Kelley’s kind expression behind him. She had already given me a nickname before the evening even began.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, Sophie. And you can rest assured, my wife and I plan to help you find someone who can speak for you in that case against Félix De Luca p>
“Thank you, sir. I truly mean it. I feel better knowing you and Mrs. Kelley are willing to help me,” I said with a warm smile, because I really was grateful.
“Oh, don’t think twice about it, dear,” Mrs. Kelley replied as she came closer and took my hands. “We’re family now. Family takes care of each other p>
“She’s right, Sophie. And, by the way, I also heard what you thought of my son at first p>
My eyes widened before I could stop myself, and Mr. Kelley laughed at my reaction.
“Why don’t we continue this in the dining room p>
“Of course. Sophia will enjoy everything I cooked for her,” Mrs. Kelley replied as she led us toward the dining room.

“Good idea, dear. Did you call our son?” he asked.
“Yes. He said he was on his way p>
“Hmph. Daniel manages to arrive on time when it’s business, but he’s late every time we have a family dinner,” Mr. Kelley muttered as we headed into the bright, beautiful dining room.
My stomach twisted the moment I heard her son’s name, and I suddenly needed an excuse to step away.
“Mrs. Kelley, may I use the bathroom, please p>
“Of course, dear,” she said, calling an employee to guide me down the hallway.
I stepped into the bathroom and let out a slow breath when the door closed behind me. The soft lighting and warm colors made the space feel safe, and right then, it was the only place that had managed to calm my nerves since I arrived.
I moved closer to the mirror and studied myself.
There was no turning back now. I had come seeking justice, and I planned to see it through to the end. I exhaled and reminded myself why I had agreed to come in the first place.
Daniel’s POV:
“Man, aren’t you excited to meet your fiancée? If I were you, I’d already be a mess,” Andrew said as we got out of the car. He shot me a teasing wink as we walked toward the entrance of my parents’ house.
“Why should I be excited? It’s just dinner. My mother wanted to introduce me to this Sophia. That’s all p>
“Well, I’m excited. I want to see what she’s like p>
“Relax. You’ll meet her soon,” I replied, giving him a light pat on the back.
I didn’t see my parents in the living room, so I headed straight to the dining room with Andrew beside me.
