Chapter 22
Chapter 22:
Alan charged in, his face dark with fury. “What the hell happened? Why is the company account empty p>
Gracie tilted her head, her tone all feigned confusion. “Shouldn’t I be asking you that question instead p>
Alan froze mid-thought, the memory hitting him—he’d already drained most of the company’s funds the last time.
Clearing his throat, he forced a casual tone. “Since there’s no money left, find investors. Or do you expect cash to rain down while you sit here p>
Gracie’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. “Already done. The investor’s coming today—and he’s putting in forty million p>
Alan’s eyes brightened with approval. “That’s more like it. Transfer the payment account to my name. I can’t tell what you’ve been wasting company funds on—the balance vanished in no time. Deposit part of it in the company account and list the rest under me. If you need money, you can come ask for it, and I’ll release it p>
Phoebe clenched her fists, fury burning through her chest at his audacity.
Everyone knew he had been skimming company funds for years.
“Not a chance!” Phoebe burst out, voice trembling with disbelief.
Alan looked at her out of the corner of his eye, icy and indifferent, as if her words weren’t worth acknowledging.
Gracie, on the other hand, offered a small, composed smile. “All right, then p>
“Gracie!” Phoebe spun around, panic edging her tone.

“It’s all right,” Gracie replied evenly, her expression unreadable. “I have faith in my father. With him at the wheel, everything’s going to be fine p>
Phoebe’s expression dimmed with disappointment. She had hoped Gracie had grown wiser, but the woman remained painfully trusting.
Alan, having gotten exactly what he wanted, walked out without a backward glance.
Left in the quiet room, Gracie eased into her chair, her thoughts a tangled mess. She knew better than to accept Theo’s money—it would only drag her into deeper trouble.
Alan’s proposal, though infuriating, offered a way out.
Phoebe, unable to hold back, blurted, “What on earth are you thinking? He may be your father, but he stole every penny from the company p>
“It’s fine.” Gracie’s smile carried an easy warmth. “It won’t be like that again p>
Phoebe exhaled in quiet frustration, giving a faint shake of her head. “I’ll get going for now p>
Moments after she left, Theo appeared at the entrance. Gracie stepped forward to greet him and personally led him through the company.
Radiant Technologies might have been modest in size, but it ran with precision and top-tier professionalism.
Theo reviewed the proposal and found nothing amiss, his expression relaxing into satisfaction.
A spark of intrigue flickered in his eyes—perhaps he’d misjudged Gracie. Marrying her instead might not have been such a terrible choice after all.
“Impressive,” he remarked with a faint smile. “The investment funds will be wired in the next couple of days. I have a feeling we’ll make excellent partners p>
He extended his hand toward her, but Gracie drew back slightly, her gaze shifting beyond his shoulder. “Ellie’s here,” she murmured.
