Chapter 406
Chapter 406:
Gracie and Brayden went back to the bedroom.
She carefully retrieved the contents of the safe. The first document was a formal stock transfer agreement, explicitly stating that upon completing her college education, she would receive full title to the entire portfolio her mother had designated for her.
The next item was a compiled roster of individuals her mother had relied on most deeply during her time leading the company. At present, only a handful—fewer than five—still held positions there, and it remained uncertain whether their allegiances had stayed firm or wavered with time.
The last file described an international trust fund established offshore, naming Gracie as the only person authorized to withdraw from or manage its assets.
It was no surprise that Alan had stubbornly kept possession of the safe for so many years, despite being unable to access what was inside.
“Your mother truly laid a solid foundation for your future,” Brayden remarked softly. “Your father may not know the precise details locked away, but he likely suspected they wouldn’t benefit him. It’s fortunate you finally secured the safe now p>
“Just this stock transfer agreement by itself could deliver a serious blow to his position, though fully ousting him from the company will require careful steps and patience.” Gracie nodded thoughtfully.
Brayden’s mouth curved into a warm, knowing grin. “When you collapsed earlier today, I wasn’t trying to intrude. I simply wanted to lighten your load. While you rested, I quietly contacted the few remaining longtime executives at Sullivan Group. Once you’ve resolved matters with the Holt family, you can coordinate directly with them to strategize reclaiming control p>
“So that’s what occupied your afternoon p>
“Exactly,” he confirmed. “I held off mentioning it earlier because the outcome was unclear. Those individuals appear dependable at the moment, but people are driven by their own agendas. You’ll have to meet them face to face to truly gauge where their loyalties lie p>
“Thanks,” Gracie whispered, a rare wave of emotion washing over her as tears welled in her eyes.

Brayden let out a light laugh and tenderly rested his hand on the back of her head. “We’re in this together—as partners. Supporting you benefits me too. No need for thanks in the future p>
They were far more than mere partners; they were bound by marriage vows. He yearned to carry her burdens alongside her, though some sentiments he kept to himself for now.
The following day, Gracie pulled up in her SUV and let Jessie out at the entrance of the restaurant.
“As soon as you’re upstairs, try not to resist too forcefully. Just keep your composure, and I’ll show up unexpectedly,” Gracie advised. “I still need to verify a couple of suspicions p>
Though Jessie remained in the dark about the full strategy, she agreed readily. “I’ll play along with whatever you have in mind. But what exactly are we unsure about p>
“My instinct tells me Theo is the driving force behind arranging your engagement to Aiden.” Gracie lowered her voice.
At the mention of Theo, Jessie’s face clouded with irritation. “He’s always stirring up trouble everywhere. Why can’t he just stay out of things p>
“If he stayed out of things, he wouldn’t be Theo,” Gracie countered with a slight shake of her head. “Don’t dwell on it too much. Before heading out today, I noticed Aiden leaving with Erik. They’re likely upstairs right now, painting him in the best possible light to your parents p>
“That’s outrageous!” Jessie fumed as she exited the vehicle, marching purposefully into the building on her stilettos.
Up on the restaurant’s panoramic top level, Erik sat next to Aiden, warmly presenting him to Jessie’s parents. “Allow me to introduce my youngest son, Aiden. He’s talented, responsible, and upright. He’ll treat Jessie with the utmost care p>
Seated opposite them, Jessie’s parents, Rudolf and Marley, beamed with polite enthusiasm.
