Chapter 250
Chapter 250:
As the race went on and the cars spread farther apart, the screens on both the mountainside and the mountaintop switched to the latest live footage.
“Whoa! I don’t recognize the two cars in front. Are they newbies p>
“What? You seriously can’t tell the second one belongs to Brayden p>
“Brayden?” the first man stuttered. “He hasn’t raced in ages. How is he only second? That speed isn’t even close to what he used to hit. Did he get rusty p>
“It doesn’t make sense. With his skills, he should be leading easily. So who’s the one in front? I don’t recognize that person p>
“That’s Aiden, the illegitimate son the Stanleys recently acknowledged p>
The same disbelief spread through the people watching from the mountaintop.
“How is Brayden in second place?” Ellie laughed, tilting her head at Gracie with smug delight. “He had the best upbringing and the best training, yet he can’t beat Aiden? Looks like everyone overrated him. Being the firstborn doesn’t automatically make you exceptional p>
Her jab was deliberate.
“The race isn’t even over, and you’re already bragging. Aren’t you worried you’ll regret it later?” Gracie replied, her voice cool and even.
Ellie scoffed. “Still pretending he’s hiding some miracle? If he had the ability, he would’ve overtaken Aiden by now. Acting tough won’t change the situation p>
Gracie let out a quiet, amused laugh and said nothing. A subtle sparkle lit up her eyes.
Yousef leaned in so close that Gracie felt the warmth of his breath against her ear. “You’re really not worried p>
“Come on. You can see Brayden is only playing with Aiden,” she said to him.

“You never miss anything. Seriously, you’re impressive.” Yousef lifted a thumb in her direction.
A short distance away, Theo noticed the exchange out of the corner of his eye. His eyes narrowed slightly, a flash of coldness tightening his expression.
Out on the twisted mountain track, Aiden kept watching the mirror, his confidence swelling into smugness. His mouth tugged upward. “I expected better. Looks like you’re nothing special after all. Brayden, I’ll be the one to humiliate you today!” He slammed down the accelerator, and his car shot forward, the distance between them stretching instantly.
Behind him, Brayden watched with a calm, almost playful look. “Aiden, don’t get too excited. I was just letting you lead for a while p>
The commentator’s voice boomed through the speakers. “The leaders are about to enter the sharp bends. No guardrails here. One wrong move and it’s over. Let’s see what decisions they make p>
Aiden’s brows knit together, and he instinctively slowed as he eased through the first narrow turn.
Then his heartbeat jumped. “Brayden, have you lost your mind p>
In his mirror, Brayden didn’t brake at all. Instead, he sped up. His car moved through the curves with razor-sharp control, clipping the inner lines perfectly.
Within seconds, he flashed past Aiden.
The mountainside crowd went completely silent. Then the cheers erupted like a wave crashing down.
