Chapter 470
Meanwhile, at Radiant Technologies, Phoebe announced as she passed the folder across the desk, “Mr. Stanley, the test report is ready.” Resting a finger on the page, she went on, “The analysis confirms it. The drug compounds contain substances that can significantly speed up the onset of Alzheimer’s disease…”
Although medicine wasn’t his field, the explanation made the truth unmistakably clear to Brayden.
Drawing in a sharp breath, he curled his hands into tight fists. “Theo crossed a line this time,” he said, his voice low as his face hardened.
Beside him, Phoebe remained quiet, her expression composed, offering no further comment.
The room stayed hushed before a brief buzz split the air.
Brayden glanced at his phone, then moved to a secluded corner before answering. “What’s the situation on your side? The test results just came in. My grandpa’s condition was caused by the supplements Theo gave him.”
“So far, everything’s under control here, aside from Alan making a spectacle outside,” Gracie answered steadily. “Don’t act too quickly with the supplements. I need to head back to the ward. I planted a pinhole camera earlier. There’s a chance it’ll turn up something useful.”
“All right,” Brayden replied after a short beat. “I’ll wait for you.”
Once he left Radiant Technologies, he drove straight to the hospital. Lingering at the entrance, he soon spotted Gracie approaching from the distance.
Without wasting words, the two of them headed upstairs to the VIP ward together.
Inside, Gracie slipped to the spot where she’d concealed the pinhole camera earlier. With practiced movements, she retrieved it and extracted the footage.
The video showed Theo carefully helping Kevin clean himself, speaking to him in a gentle, respectful tone. Every gesture suggested patience and genuine concern for his grandfather. No matter how closely they watched, nothing about Theo’s behavior looked out of place.
Yet just before leaving the room, he paused. He handed a fresh set of supplements to Neal, his expression serious as he gave clear instructions to make sure they were administered on schedule.
“So it really was him…” Brayden’s expression turned glacial, his fingers curling so tightly his knuckles creaked. “How the hell could he do this to our grandpa?”
“If he was willing to hurt you,” Gracie remarked quietly, her gaze steady, “then hurting your grandpa wouldn’t have stopped him either.” After a brief pause, she added, “What are you going to do now?”
With Kevin’s condition deteriorating, the weight of the Stanley family rested squarely on Brayden’s shoulders. Whether Theo would be shielded or destroyed depended entirely on his choice.
Drawing in a slow, measured breath, Brayden shut his eyes. When he spoke again, his voice was flat and merciless. “He doesn’t deserve mercy anymore.”
A faint smile touched Gracie’s lips as she reached out and patted his shoulder. “Then you’ve finally made up your mind.”
Before they left, they summoned Neal once more and issued strict instructions: aside from Kevin’s regular meals, no health supplements were to be given from that moment on, especially anything sent from the house. In truth, Theo wasn’t the only one in the family who could no longer be trusted.
Later that evening, Brayden summoned everyone to his living room.
“Brayden, why call everyone together all of a sudden?” Valeria queried, her brows knitting together. “Is something wrong with your grandpa?”
“If his condition worsened, shouldn’t we be heading to the hospital right now?” Erik shot to his feet, fury flashing across his face. “If anything happens to him, I swear I won’t let this go.”
His glare locked onto Brayden as he pressed on. “I’m convinced this is your doing, and Gracie’s. You two cooked up some kind of drug to make him seriously ill, just so you could grab control of the household. How could you be that heartless?”
Shock burst across the room, faces draining of color as everyone turned to stare.
Excitement flickered across Aiden’s face, lighting his eyes. “So you’re finally confessing? You’re admitting you were the one who schemed against Grandpa all along?” He let out a hollow laugh. “He adored you from the time you were a child. What you’ve done to him is beyond cruel.”
