Chapter 424
Chapter 424:
Brayden stepped into the hospital room and saw Theo by Kevin’s bedside, wiping his face with a towel.
“Why didn’t you call for a caregiver?” Brayden asked. “Some things are better handled by professionals p>
Theo, who had never tended to others, had unexpectedly taken on the role of caregiver, which in itself felt out of character.
“No caregiver would care for him the way I do,” Theo said, his eyes heavy with sorrow. “Watching Grandpa like this is unbearable. How could his condition worsen so suddenly p>
Gracie walked over. “Let’s step outside to talk. We’ve already hired a few caregivers, and Neal the butler will come by this afternoon to personally look after him p>
“Is that really sufficient?” Theo pressed. “Brayden, Gracie, if you’re both tied up, I can stay here and take care of Grandpa p>
“You?” Brayden raised a brow. “Isn’t your workload overwhelming already? Are you really able to stay here and look after him p>
“No matter how busy I am, nothing matters more than Grandpa,” Theo replied firmly.
Valeria nodded in agreement. “Theo’s right. If Erik finds out about this, he’ll definitely try to exploit the situation. He might even trick Kevin into signing something without realizing it. We need someone trustworthy keeping an eye on him p>
Gracie caught the flicker in Theo’s eyes and spoke evenly. “Alzheimer’s isn’t something that can be cured overnight. I know everyone wants what’s best for Kevin, but life still has to move forward. Theo can’t abandon the company and stay in the hospital indefinitely. A few days might be fine, but not months or years. There’s no need to argue. We should trust the caregivers p>
“I agree with Gracie,” Brayden said with a nod. “With Neal around, my dad won’t dare make any reckless moves p>
After weighing their words, Valeria added, “Brayden and Gracie are right. Theo, you should focus on your work p>

At last, Theo could only give in. Within the family, he didn’t have the authority to insist.
Neal Ward, Kevin’s butler, arrived soon after receiving the call, and the group gradually left the hospital together.
Inside Brayden’s car, Gracie’s expression remained tense, her brows drawn tight. “There’s something off about Kevin’s condition p>
She explained the doctor’s findings, and Brayden frowned as well.
“I’m not an expert,” Brayden said slowly, “but under what circumstances would someone’s health decline this fast p>
Gracie, with her solid foundation in medicine, had a theory. “Drug-induced deterioration,” she said, her brows knitting further. “I can’t think of any other possibility p>
“Drug-induced?” Brayden’s expression darkened. “Are you saying someone may have tampered with his food p>
“Yes,” Gracie replied without hesitation. “We need to investigate the household, especially his daily meals. I have a strong feeling that someone is starting to lose patience p>
“I’ll handle the investigation at home,” Brayden said decisively. “You go back to the company for now. We have to stay cautious. Aside from you and me, anyone could be involved p>
Gracie got out of the car and headed toward a nearby SUV. After a few steps, Theo’s unusual behavior flashed through her mind, but the Maybach had already driven away.
“Forget it. Once he starts digging, he’ll figure out who’s been leaking information p>
Gracie returned to the company and immediately immersed herself in new research.
With Kevin’s Alzheimer’s progressing, even a partial breakthrough could help slow the decline. It wouldn’t restore him completely, but it might allow him to regain brief moments of clarity.
She had never been this determined to achieve a breakthrough.
