Chapter 133
Chapter 133:
Shock drained all color from Sophie’s face as she hurried down the stairs, collapsing at Alice’s side. Her hands shook as she shouted, “Please—somebody help! Get an ambulance, now p>
Alice lay sprawled in blood, her skin chalk-white, but her gaze cut straight through Sophie, sharp and deliberate.
With a trembling hand, Alice pointed accusingly, tears streaking down her cheeks as she whimpered for all to hear. “Why, Sophie? Why would you hurt me? I’ve already lost everything—wasn’t that enough p>
“What?” Sophie could only gape in disbelief, frozen as the lies rang out, icy dread sinking into her bones.
Before she could defend herself, Adrian shoved past the onlookers and strode over. His face was unreadable, but he swept his eyes over Sophie first, quickly checking for any sign of injury. For a brief second, concern flickered behind his stern expression.
When she spotted Adrian, Alice’s sobs grew louder, her words spiraling into the air. “We’re family. I never tried to steal Adrian from you! He was supposed to marry me, and you took him anyway. I let you marry him, didn’t I? I even let you use my name! And now—now I’m pregnant, but it’s not even his baby. Why would I fight for him p>
As if only just noticing the blood, Alice let out a piercing wail. “No—my baby! That’s all I have left! How could you do this to me, Sophie? How could you be so heartless p>
Her cries exploded through the room, sending a ripple of outrage and suspicion surging through the crowd.
“Oh my God! Did she shove her down the stairs p>
“I heard she stole her fiancé and now wants her out of the picture p>
“Pushing a pregnant woman over a man—that’s just wicked p>

A few onlookers pressed in, their questions flying. “Is this true? Are you even family p>
Crying harder, Alice seized the moment, letting her voice tremble for sympathy.
“Sophie is my cousin,” she blurted out. “She is my aunt’s daughter. After her mom passed, my father took her in and raised her. We gave her everything. But it was never enough for her. I was the one engaged to Adrian first, but when Sophie realized how powerful the Knight family was, she insisted on taking my place. I gave up everything for peace in the family p>
With a shaky breath, Alice shot Sophie a look full of accusation. “But after she married Adrian, the Knights turned their backs on him. Sophie started to regret it. She wanted out. But I was having a baby with someone else. There was no going back. She snapped tonight and pushed me—just because she couldn’t stand it anymore p>
Every word from Alice sent another wave of outrage through the crowd, their accusing stares cutting straight through Sophie. With each glare, the tension around her grew tighter.
But public opinion wasn’t what truly terrified her.
The thing that mattered most was what Adrian saw now.
The secret Sophie had protected for so long—the truth she had just decided to reveal—had been thrown out in the worst possible way, right in front of him.
Barely breathing, Sophie looked to Adrian, her eyes begging for any sign that he might still believe her.
He stared back, his face impossible to read.
When she noticed Adrian’s stormy gaze, Alice’s eyes gleamed with victory. She felt certain he was lost to Sophie now.
She raised her voice, shrill and trembling. “Adrian, you know the truth! I was always meant to be by your side. Please—you have to see how cruel she is. Don’t let her get away with this p>
