Chapter 96
Chapter 96:
Addie was still planted at the door, arms crossed, voice sharp as a whip. “What the hell are you doing here? If you don’t leave right now, I’m calling the police p>
Sophie met her glare without flinching, a mix of patience and exasperation washing over her. She realized Addie had probably been duped, so she decided to lay it out clearly. “Adrian’s already married p>
Addie’s jaw dropped. “What? That… that’s impossible! You’re lying p>
Sarah, never one to mince words, leaned back and smirked. “Impossible? Really? Do you know who he married? She’s standing right here. The real Mrs. Knight p>
Addie’s eyes went wide, scanning Sophie as if she were seeing a ghost. She was frozen, stunned, and speechless.
Sophie didn’t gloat or smirk. Her eyes held no victory—only a strange coldness and tiredness.
Then the sound of running water came from the bathroom. Sophie looked toward it and spoke calmly. “He’s in there, isn’t he p>

Meanwhile, Adrian accepted a glass of wine from a partner who seemed happy to oblige, clinking it lightly before taking a measured sip.
At that moment, his phone vibrated.
He checked the screen and frowned. “Sorry, I need to take this,” he muttered, stepping out of the room and lowering his voice. “Keep it short p>
On the other end, Simon’s familiar teasing voice piped up. “You’re not going to believe what I just saw p>
“If you keep rambling, I’m hanging up,” Adrian snapped, irritation creeping into his voice.
Simon had forced tonight’s dinner on him, insisting Adrian owed it to the family to attend. Normally, Adrian avoided these gatherings like the plague, letting Simon play the gracious host. But today, he had gone partly out of courtesy and partly to give Sophie a little breathing space.
He wasn’t here for chit-chat or handshakes. He had one eye on the clock, planning to make a graceful exit. And then, just now, Sophie had asked him where he was. That small question, casual as it seemed, made his chest tighten.
Could this be the moment she was finally ready to respond?
Just as he was about to hang up, Simon blurted, “I just saw your wife at the Dream Hotel entrance p>
Adrian’s finger froze on the phone. His voice sharpened instantly. “Go on p>
“She was holding hands with someone,” Simon continued, “and practically running into the hotel like they were in a hurry. And it’s not even dark yet. Seriously, what are two people doing running into a hotel at this hour? Or, I don’t know… maybe it’s not just a hotel visit p>
Simon clicked his tongue dramatically. “Man, I didn’t think it was possible, but even you’re getting cheated on p>
Adrian’s voice dropped to a low, dangerous tone. “Who was she with p>
Simon laughed harder. “Her good friend from the company… uh, what’s her name… Sarah Miller! Yeah, that’s the one p>
Simon was now fully carried away by his own excitement. “Man, your wife’s with a woman! Can you believe it? Was she ever interested in you at all? Or is she a lesbian? Bi? Always hugging and cuddling right under your nose, and you thought they were just best friends? The great CEO Adrian Knight, totally fooled p>
Simon’s unstoppable laughter poured through the other end of the line.
Adrian’s face went dark, his knuckles white as he gripped the phone. His mind replayed flashes of Sophie and Sarah together… always close, always sharing everything.
How had he been so blind not to notice earlier? No wonder Sophie always kept her distance. Could it be she wasn’t interested in men at all?
“Simon, if you’re playing me, you won’t get away with it,” Adrian replied through clenched teeth.
