Sophie carefully lifted the two broken pieces from the table, treating them as if they were fragile glass. Holding them close to the light above, she leaned in, her eyes narrowing with focus.

The seconds stretched, and then her eyes sharpened with sudden clarity.

“That’s not what I’m getting at. What I’m saying is, the bracelet was already broken before I even lifted the lid.” Sophie’s voice didn’t waver.

A ripple of murmurs spread through the room.

Sadie’s eyes widened briefly before she curled her lip. “You’re just making things up now p>

Sophie brushed off the insult and raised the pieces for everyone to see. “Look closely at the break. If it had fallen naturally, you’d notice jagged edges, small chips, and fine cracks spreading out. But see this instead p>

She pointed to the fracture. “It’s completely flat, smooth as can be. That only happens if someone twists it hard. This wasn’t from hitting a table—this was snapped by hand p>

The room filled with shocked gasps.

Juliet leaned closer to inspect and quickly nodded. “You’re right, Sophie. It’s too clean. This was definitely broken on purpose p>

Sadie’s face paled, but she wasn’t backing down. “So what? That just proves you didn’t store it properly p>

She snapped her fingers like she had struck gold and pressed harder. “Or maybe you set me up. Handed me a faulty piece on purpose because you’ve got it out for me p>

She spun toward the others, her voice rising. “You all saw it! I never even touched that case p>

Sophie answered with a calm smile. “Not so fast. When I stepped out to call people in, you had plenty of time to do it p>

Sadie smirked. “Really? You left your assistant to watch me the whole time. You think I managed some magic trick while he stared at me p>

“That’s exactly what I want to know.” Sophie’s eyes fixed on Tyler. “Tyler, when I was out, did you leave this room at any point p>

Tyler’s eyes flickered nervously before he answered. “No, Sophie. I stayed right here. Mrs. Knight never touched the case at all p>

Sadie smiled smugly. “See? Anything else you want to make up p>

Sophie gave a short nod. “No, that’s all I’ve got p>

Sadie retorted, “So you’re admitting it was your fault p>

“Nope.” Sophie shook her head. “I get it now. You and Tyler are in this together p>

Sadie’s fists tightened under the table, but she plastered on a sly smile. “So that’s where we are now? Making up stories because your excuses aren’t sticking p>

Sophie shut out Sadie’s voice, her eyes dropping briefly as she pieced it together. Then she turned to Juliet and spoke firmly. “Juliet, I’d stake my job on this. Someone broke that bracelet on purpose during the short time I stepped away. I want the conference room footage checked p>
