Chapter 195
Chapter 195:
Sophie tilted her head, one brow lifting with a sly curve. “Curious, Mrs. Knight. You’re not even on payroll, yet you rattle off details about our office layout like you’ve been here for years. You even seem to know which conference rooms have cameras and which don’t. Care to explain that p>
A nervous twitch pulled at Sadie’s face, her voice tripping over itself. “I just didn’t see any cameras p>
Sophie didn’t ease up. If anything, her words pressed harder. “That tip came from Tyler, didn’t it? Poor kid’s still wet behind the ears. He wouldn’t know our security inside out. See, the executive suites don’t run with the obvious cameras. Too risky for confidential meetings p>
She glanced at Sadie and Tyler, continuing, “But we use discreet placements here. Easy for newcomers to miss. And here’s the kicker—those feeds don’t land in the security office. Only senior management can access them p>
Both Sadie and Tyler went pale at once.
Sophie didn’t give them time to recover. She turned to Juliet, her voice steady and businesslike. “Juliet, I’m asking you to request a pull from headquarters for those hidden cameras p>
Then, leaning in a degree more, she added, “Or better, get our legal team here now. Deliberately wrecking company property and ruining our reputation is serious. That could even be a felony, right p>
Juliet parted her lips to respond, but before a word could escape, Tyler’s knees hit the floor with a dull thud.
“I’m sorry! Sophie, Juliet!” He pointed at Sadie as tears streamed down his cheeks. “It was her! She paid me to get close to Sophie, to land the assistant job, and to just wait for the right day. She told me to mess things up and put the blame on you p>
His voice shook with panic. “It was her idea for me to pull off the bracelet when you left the room, break it, and flip the box over. That way, when Sophie picked it up, it would drop out and shatter. None of this was mine. Sadie made me do it p>
Sadie’s perfect composure shattered. Her jaw dropped as she rounded on him, spitting venom. “You filthy liar! Don’t you dare drag my name through the mud p>

Sophie’s stare was cold as winter as she pivoted away from Sadie and toward the crumpled Tyler. “Big accusations. Got proof, or just a sob story p>
Tyler fumbled like a man drowning for breath, then thrust his phone forward. “There’s call history, messages… check my phone. And this,” he said, producing a bank card with shaking fingers. “She paid me. Three hundred grand deposited. She said more would come once it went through p>
Juliet’s expression snapped from surprise to hard anger in an instant, the disgust in her eyes aimed straight at Sadie. For the first time in that meeting, she sounded icy. “Mrs. Knight, are you really asking me to go to HQ to pull tapes after this p>
Sadie staggered back a couple of steps, the room tilting under her as she realized the game was over.
But then, as if a switch had flipped, her tone changed. She drew in a slow breath and forced her lips into something resembling a smile. “Let’s not drag the higher-ups into this circus. Why make a scene? I’ll let the bracelet go—no compensation, no fuss. You let Sophie go, and I’ll take the remaining two pieces. We’ll call it even p>
Even at the end, with everything collapsing, Sadie reached for one last bit of leverage, trying to bargain her way out and shove Sophie toward the exit.
