Chapter 181
Chapter 181:
Stepping into her new role as lead designer, Sophie didn’t have to wait long for her first independent assignment.
Her first client turned out to be the wife of a prominent businessman, who requested a bespoke emerald jewelry set that included a necklace, earrings, and bracelet. Clearly unimpressed by impersonal emails, the woman demanded that Sophie visit her estate in person to go over every detail.
Toolkit in hand, Sophie followed the directions to the exclusive Zhatwell community. Tall, mature trees lined the quiet streets, shading rows of impressive mansions. At the main entrance, a maid greeted her and led her along perfectly trimmed paths through a lush garden, all the way up to the stately front door.
Inside, a sophisticated woman who appeared to be in her forties reclined on the living room sofa, radiating an air of effortless authority. She stayed seated and let her eyes sweep over Sophie, the look feeling more like an evaluation than a welcome.
Putting on her best professional smile, Sophie approached. “Mrs. Knight, nice to meet you.” She ignored the chill in Sadie Knight’s eyes.
Sadie responded with a sharp nod, gesturing for Sophie to take the opposite seat.
Setting her toolkit gently on the table, Sophie jumped right in. “I’m Sophie from Pinnacle Jewelry, and I’ll be handling your custom emerald set. Let’s go over exactly what you’re looking for p>

For a while, Sadie kept up her composed facade, her tone sharp and her attitude slightly distant. Sophie didn’t flinch, backing up her ideas with quick thinking and strong reasoning.
When Sophie pulled out her sketchbook and drew up a few concepts on the spot, laying out her vision in detail, something shifted. Sadie’s eyes brightened with interest. The stiff skepticism finally melted from her face, and for the first time since Sophie arrived, a genuine smile broke through.
“You might be young, but I have to admit, you’ve got a sharp eye for design.” For the first time, Sadie’s tone lost some of its earlier bite.
By the time they finished up, all the details were set, and evening light was already fading outside. Sadie seemed almost cheerful as she offered, “It’s getting late. Why don’t you stay for dinner p>
Sophie gave her a grateful smile but politely declined. “Thank you for the offer, Mrs. Knight, but p>
Before she could finish, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway cut her off. Sadie’s expression brightened, her posture instantly elegant as she rose from the couch. “That’ll be my husband just getting home p>
