Chapter 221
Chapter 221:
Ryan thought back to her cold indifference at the banquet the previous night, which only added to his frustration.
With a resigned smile, he signed the agreement decisively.
If that was her wish, he was ready to grant it.
Taking the signed document from Ryan, Rohan added, “Mr. Haynes, everything is set for tomorrow morning. You have to head to the courthouse to finalize the proceedings p>
After Rohan left, the office was enveloped in silence, but Ryan’s mind was anything but quiet.
He stared at the scattered papers on his desk, feeling unsettled.
Although he had long promised Maisie that he would divorce Jenessa, the reality brought him no joy.
Elsewhere, in the cozy confines of a restaurant’s private room, the mood was vibrant.
“To Jenessa, for regaining her freedom and single status tomorrow!” Brinley announced, raising her glass high.
Seeing this, Jenessa smiled.
“I’m getting a divorce, but why do you seem happier than I am p>
Brinley finished her drink and responded with conviction, “Of course! I’ve been hoping you’d leave Ryan for the longest time p>
She then added with a mischievous glint in her eye, “After the divorce, I’m going to find you a top-notch man. Just imagine introducing your new boyfriend to Ryan and Maisie. That’ll be exciting p>
Jenessa’s smile faded at Brinley’s words. She shook her head, a wry smile appearing.
“Forget it, I don’t want to bring any man trouble p>
Brinley quickly countered, “How can you say that? Any man would be lucky to have you. It would be his greatest blessing p>
Brinley looked to Richard for affirmation.
“Right, Rick p>
Richard smiled softly, his demeanor gentle but his gaze firm as he looked at Jenessa.
“Brin is right. Whoever ends up marrying you is fortunate. Ryan has definitely missed out p>
He paused, lowering his gaze slightly, a blush apparent on his composed face.
“If it were me, I would cherish you p>
Taken aback by his forwardness, Jenessa quickly looked away, feeling awkward.
Realizing she might be uncomfortable, Richard worried she might take his words the wrong way or distance herself from him. Feeling a bit disheartened, he quickly added, “Sorry, I was just joking p>
Jenessa breathed a sigh of relief and followed up.
“It’s okay. We’re all just having a good time today p>
Underneath the table, Jenessa discreetly placed her hand on her belly.
For now, her mind was occupied with other concerns. Her only focus would be on giving birth to her baby safely and raising them well.
As for romantic entanglements, she had decided they were no longer on her agenda.
After leaving the restaurant, Richard had a bit to drink while Brinley was knocked out from too much alcohol. Eventually, Jenessa had to call a designated driver.
