Chapter 567
Chapter 567:
“Ms. Wright, please go upstairs. Mr. Haynes is in the bedroom,” one of the servants informed her while they held a struggling Maisie back.
Maisie’s eyes blazed with fury.
“You idiots! I’m Ryan’s future wife! How dare you try to stop me p>
But the servants ignored her words.
Meanwhile, Jenessa dashed up to the second floor, flinging open the door to the bedroom without hesitation.
Inside, she expected to find the man lying weak and exhausted. Instead, he was at his desk, engaged in a serious virtual meeting, looking calm and collected.
She stood frozen at the door.
Ryan, noticing the interruption, turned to her with a frown. The warmth she once knew in his eyes was replaced by a look of sheer irritation.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, his tone cold and dismissive.
Jenessa, shocked by his indifference, stood there, speechless.
Ryan sighed and spoke into the headset.
“Meeting suspended. I have other matters to attend to p>
He turned his attention back to Jenessa, his eyes narrowing with irritation.
“Speak quickly. I’m busy p>
Jenessa’s shock kept her rooted to the spot. She had braced herself to see him ill, but there wasn’t a trace of sickness on his face.
What was going on? Jenessa blurted out, “Aren’t you suffering from a gastric hemorrhage p>
Ryan’s eyes were devoid of emotion as he sneered, “Sure, I’ve had some stomach issues, but it’s not like I’ve been bleeding internally. Jenessa, are you so ruthless that you wish something that bad would happen to me p>
His icy tone left Jenessa momentarily speechless.

It had been a while since Ryan had spoken to her with such cruelty.
“I didn’t mean that…” Jenessa wanted to explain that she was only concerned about him, but the words caught in her throat.
After all, their relationship wasn’t what it used to be.
She pressed her lips together, trying to hold back the sadness welling up inside her, and asked in a shaky voice, “Why is Maisie here p>
Ryan scoffed and retorted, “What gives you the right to ask that p>
Suddenly, Jenessa felt a ringing in her ears, and her thoughts scattered. What right did she have?
She and Ryan had divorced a long time ago, and there hadn’t even been a hint of reconciliation. In reality, they were nothing more than strangers who once knew each other well.
So, she really had no grounds to pry into Ryan’s personal life now.
“But…” Jenessa balled her fists, unable to find the words.
“What?” Ryan coldly looked away before bluntly stating, “Fine. Let me spell it out for you. Maisie is pregnant with my child. I pulled strings to get her out of prison, and we’re getting married soon p>
Jenessa was completely taken aback. For a second, she wondered if she’d misheard him.
“What did you say? You’re marrying Maisie p>
Ryan didn’t love Maisie. Why was he suddenly deciding to marry her?
Ryan spoke deliberately.
“Even though Maisie has made many mistakes, she’s been unwavering in her devotion to me from the very beginning. When I was down with that stomach ache, she stayed by my side, taking care of me tirelessly, day and night p>
His tone grew bitter, and he shot Jenessa a look of disdain.
“The woman who once promised to love me—you—couldn’t even be bothered to answer the hospital’s calls. You completely ignored me, choosing instead to gallivant with Richard abroad. You know how much despise him and can’t stand seeing you with him. yet you went ahead and did it anyway p>
