Chapter 566
Chapter 566:
She reluctantly decided to turn around and leave.
But her feet seemed to have a mind of their own, refusing to budge.
If anything happened to Ryan, how would she explain it to their child in the future?
With this thought providing the perfect excuse, Jenessa changed her mind again and walked inside.
To her surprise, the first person she saw at the door wasn’t Ryan, but Maisie.
Jenessa froze, her blood running cold.
Maisie was the last person she expected to see in the villa.
She’d imagined countless scenarios of their reunion, none of them like this. After all this time, she had envisioned Maisie as a broken woman, ravaged by her time behind bars.
Yet here she was, decked out in extravagant attire and makeup, comfortably sprawled on the sofa while a servant attended to her with a beauty massage.
She lazily popped a grape into her mouth, her eyes fluttering open. They locked onto Jenessa, who was standing at the doorway.
“Jenessa,” she sneered, “what are you doing here p>
Jenessa’s hands balled into fists.
She had known Ryan had pulled strings to get Maisie out of prison, but seeing her here, in his home, twisted the knife in her heart.
Despite all her efforts, Maisie had slipped through the cracks once more.
The worst part? It was Ryan, the man she had once trusted with all her heart, who had facilitated Maisie’s escape from justice time and again.
For a fleeting moment, Jenessa questioned her own motives for being here. Was she seeking closure, or merely setting herself up for more pain?
She summoned her resolve and forced a calm smile.
“I heard Ryan is dying. I came to see him p>
fuels your imagination
A smirk curled Maisie’s lips.
“Oh, please. What nonsense are you on about? Ryan is perfectly fine. You’re here to seduce him again, aren’t you? Well, news flash: he’s not interested p>
She stood up and positioned herself defiantly between Jenessa and the rest of the villa.
“Get out, or I’ll have you thrown out p>
Jenessa stood there, squinting at her. She didn’t believe Maisie’s words for a second.
A servant had just informed her that Ryan was in a coma and that his condition was critical due to a severe gastric hemorrhage.
She needed to see him, to confirm his safety with her own eyes.
“Move!” she demanded.
Maisie glared back.
“Not a chance! You have no right to be here. Let’s see who dares let you in p>
Jenessa took a deep breath, her eyes scanning the gathered servants.
“All of you, come here and stop her p>
Maisie’s laugh was brittle.
“Jenessa, darling, do you still think you’re the hostess of this villa? Let me tell you, none of them will listen to you p>
Before she could finish, the servants exchanged glances and, much to Maisie’s shock, stepped forward to restrain her.
For weeks, it had been clear to everyone in the household that Jenessa was the woman of the house. Ryan truly loved her, favoring her openly, and both he and his mother, Nadine, acknowledged her as the true hostess of the villa.
Maisie, on the other hand, had returned only temporarily and had wasted no time asserting her perceived authority. Her haughty attitude and relentless orders had not endeared her to the staff.
The servants, longing for the stability and kindness Jenessa represented, acted swiftly. They hoped fervently that Jenessa and Ryan would reconcile, as Maisie’s reign promised only hardship.
