Chapter 66
Chapter 66:
“I’m his secretary. Is it unusual for me to be in his office?” She responded with calm, puzzled by Maisie’s probing question.
Maisie’s face darkened, her glare intensifying.
Though it seemed trivial, she recalled Rohan mentioning that Ryan was too occupied to meet with her.
Why, then, did he have time for Jenessa?
This thought stoked Maisie’s anger.
With a deep breath, she tried to keep her cool, her voice icy as she demanded, “Tell me honestly, what did Ryan discuss with you p>
Jenessa lowered her eyes slightly, her tone remaining indifferent.
“It pertains to company secrets. I’m not at liberty to discuss it p>
“Hmph.” Maisie scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain.
She perceived Jenessa’s response as blatant rudeness, hidden behind her role as Ryan’s secretary.
“Do you realize who you’re speaking to? I am the future wife of this company’s CEO. What is there that I shouldn’t be aware of?” Maisie’s tone was dripping with arrogance, but Jenessa kept her composure, offering Maisie a polite yet firm look.
“Miss Powell, as you’ve said, that’s in the future. Currently, you do not have a legal relationship with Mr. Haynes p>
Maisie bristled at Jenessa’s steadfastness, her anger surging.
She let out a scornful laugh.

“Jenessa, what are you implying p>
Maisie’s eyes swept over Jenessa’s composed features, a smug smile forming on her lips.
“I know you’re dissatisfied. You schemed to marry Ryan, but his heart has always been mine. You can’t compare to me.” Maisie laughed with glee, her eyes sparkling.
Jenessa remained composed, showing neither embarrassment nor anger. She replied in a soft tone, “I have no dissatisfaction. Here, I maintain professionalism. Discussing non-work related matters is pointless p>
With that, Jenessa turned and walked away.
Maisie did not attempt to stop her. Instead, she observed her retreating figure with a dark, brooding look.
She secretly vowed to eliminate Jenessa from the picture.
Regaining her composure, Maisie entered Ryan’s office, wearing a warm smile.
Hearing the door, Ryan assumed Jenessa had returned.
Upon seeing Maisie, he frowned.
“Why are you here?” asked Ryan, his tone cool as he continued his work.
“Didn’t Rohan mention I’m swamped p>
Approaching him, Maisie’s eyes shimmered with affection.
“Ryan, I wanted to get your opinion on which evening gown to wear tonight p>
She awaited his response, hoping he would look at her tenderly.
“Why do you need to wear a gown tonight?” Ryan asked.
