Richard glared at Ryan dangerously.

Ryan sneered and said through gritted teeth, “What else would I be here for? Of course, I’m here with my girl to get our engagement ring p>
He then shifted his gaze to Jenessa and sarcastically said, “Your relationship is making quick progress. You once said that you only saw him as your childhood friend and a big brother, but here you are about to marry him. How ironic p>
Jenessa felt hurt by Ryan’s accusation. She retorted sarcastically, “What? If you can fall in love with another woman, why can’t I be in love and have my own happiness too p>
“Your happiness?” Ryan raised his left brow questioningly as his countenance darkened.
“Be honest enough and tell me you are really marrying Richard for love p>
Clenching her fists, Jenessa replied without hesitation, “Of course. Otherwise, why would I agree to be engaged to him p>
Jenessa’s assertion in front of Ryan surprised Richard a bit. He never expected her to be this bold about him. His slightly surprised face broke into a smile as he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her to himself to show Ryan that she belonged to him and not to Ryan.
Ryan watched impassively as Richard wrapped his arm around Jenessa, his expression growing increasingly dark. Maisie, however, was enjoying the drama. She felt Jenessa was playing with danger, having provoked Ryan with her boldness.
She narrowed her eyes and said, “Jenessa, since you have finally admitted your feelings for Richard, we wish you both a long and happy marriage p>
Maisie’s gaze lowered to Jenessa’s stomach as she sarcastically added, “Oh, I just wonder who the father of your child will be when it’s born p>
“Enough!” Ryan suddenly scolded, interrupting Maisie.
Maisie was startled, her lips parted in surprise as she looked at Ryan in panic.
“Ryan, what’s wrong with you? Did I say anything wrong?” Did he still want to protect Jenessa? Did he find it displeasing whenever she spoke ill of Jenessa?
Jenessa was taken aback, unsure of Ryan’s intentions. Did he stop Maisie from speaking to defend her? What was his game? Didn’t he hate her?
All these thoughts raced through Jenessa’s mind, muddling her thoughts.
Ryan, realizing he had acted impulsively, fell silent for a while. Finally, he said, “You didn’t say anything wrong. It’s just that we’re here for something important. Why waste time on such an irrelevant person?” His words implied that he didn’t think Jenessa was worth his attention.
Maisie’s expression brightened upon hearing this. She wrapped her arm around Ryan’s and said, “You’re right. We have more important things to do. They desperately want to ruin our relationship by showing up here. They are in for a world of disappointment. Let’s go pick a pair of rings, dear.” She threw one last glare at Jenessa before leading Ryan away.
Richard let out a sigh of relief as Ryan walked past Jenessa.
“Let’s go,” he said.
He wasn’t comfortable staying in the jewelry shop anymore. The intense jealousy and possessiveness he felt made it impossible for him to tolerate any further contact between Jenessa and Ryan.
He was going to be engaged to Jenessa soon. She was going to be his!
Jenessa, however, turned to him with a smile.
“We can’t leave yet. We haven’t bought you a ring,” she said. Turning to the salesperson, she added, “Can I see the men’s ring that pairs with this one? If it’s good, we’ll buy it along with this one p>
