Chapter 614
Chapter 614:
“As long as you stay quiet and don’t do anything that could harm the baby p>
Without hesitation, Maisie agreed eagerly, her words spilling out in a rush.
“Okay! I’ll do whatever you say! I can’t believe this is happening. Oh, God, am I dreaming? I’m finally going to marry you p>
But Ryan was unmoved by her outburst of happiness. He barely acknowledged her before ending the call, his mind already elsewhere.
He knew exactly what Maisie was after—more than anything else, she just wanted the title of Mrs. Haynes, wife of the CEO of WorldLink Group.
Rohan was shocked when he heard the news.
“Mr. Haynes, are you seriously going to get engaged to Maisie Powell p>
Ryan let out a bitter laugh, the sound tinged with resignation. He took a deep breath and said, “If I don’t marry her, Jenessa might hold onto hope that we can still be together. If I marry Maisie, Jenessa will give up on me and have her ‘happy ever after’ with Richard p>
Rohan sighed.
Ryan had sacrificed everything to keep the truth about his stomach cancer from Jenessa. Their paths would never cross again, not even if Ryan somehow survived the relentless torment of his illness.
“Mr. Haynes,” Rohan spoke with a hesitant edge, his voice barely above a whisper, “I’m not sure your plan’s foolproof. Even if Ms. Wright has let you go, you’re both in the same city; you’ll inevitably run into each other someday. If she finds out about your condition, then all your efforts will be in vain p>
Rohan’s eyes flickered with unspoken concern. He secretly hoped Ryan would reconsider his resolve. If Ryan persisted on this heartless path, it would only lead to more pain—for both himself and Jenessa.

But Ryan’s mind was made up.
“Then we won’t let Jenessa stay here,” he declared with cold finality.
“We’ll find a way to make her and Richard leave. They can move to another city or even go abroad. We’ll ensure they never return. That way, I won’t have anything holding me back p>
Rohan felt a heavy sigh forming in his chest, though he kept it hidden.
The cruelty of fate never ceased to amaze him. Ryan and Jenessa, bound by a love so profound, were cursed from the start—forever torn apart by the harsh twists of life. Although regret tugged at Rohan, he knew he had to follow Ryan’s wishes.
He could only hope that Richard would take Jenessa far away, as Ryan so desperately wanted.
At the very least, it might convince Ryan to seek the treatment he so desperately needed. Without it, his condition would only spiral further.
Meanwhile, Jenessa worked late into the night, exhaustion seeping into her bones until she finally succumbed to sleep on the sofa in her office.
As she drifted off, a dream took hold—she found herself surrounded by a thick, suffocating mist. The pale, sterile walls of a hospital loomed around her, cold and unwelcoming.
Unconsciously, she wandered into an empty morgue, the silence echoing in her ears.
It was as if an invisible thread pulled her, drawing her slowly toward the side of the cold, metal bed.
The air around her thickened, pressing against her lungs. She struggled to breathe.
Why had her dream led her to a morgue? A gnawing fear twisted in her gut. Who lay beneath the stark white sheet? With trembling fingers, she lifted the cloth. The world sharpened into painful clarity. It was Ryan, his face ashen, void of life.
