Chapter 637
Chapter 637:
Richard let out a quiet chuckle, visibly relieved by her approval.
Just then, the hotel manager approached, handing Richard a document.
“Mr. Lloyd, please review the details and sign at the bottom if everything’s to your liking p>
Richard took the papers, his eyes scanning the content quickly.
“Everything looks fine,” he said before signing with a swift flourish.
Jenessa, curious, peeked over his shoulder at the document. Her eyes widened in shock as soon as she saw the total bill.
“Rick,” she began softly, unable to hide her disbelief.
“It’s just an engagement party. It doesn’t have to be this extravagant, does it? We could scale back on some things p>
Richard didn’t pause in his writing, his tone serious but affectionate.
“It’s really not that much. And honestly, I feel it’s still not enough. You deserve nothing but the best p>
Jenessa’s heart fluttered, and her eyes shimmered with emotion.
After signing all the pages, Richard handed the document back to the manager before turning to Jenessa.
“One more thing,” he said with a gentle smile.
“I’ve arranged an appointment at the jewelry store tomorrow. We’ll pick out the engagement rings together. Whatever catches your eye, I’ll make sure you have it. Even if you want more, I’ll do everything I can to give it to you p>

Overhearing their conversation, one of the staff nearby remarked enviously, “Mr. Lloyd is such a great catch p>
“Absolutely, Ms. Wright, you’re incredibly lucky,” another chimed in, eyes twinkling with admiration.
Jenessa offered a small, embarrassed smile. But as she lowered her gaze, her thoughts drifted back to Ryan.
Memories of their past flooded her mind, unbidden and bittersweet. How many times had she dreamed of making their relationship public? She had clung to that hope, even though Ryan himself refused to acknowledge her existence at first. In their three years of marriage, she had stood by his side steadfastly.
After that, they had weathered so much together. She had once believed that, after all they’d been through, they could finally celebrate with a grand wedding—a moment to cherish, to right all the wrongs.
But it was all just a dream, destined to fade away into oblivion.
The weight of those memories pressed heavily on her chest, constricting her breath.
Richard, ever attentive, noticed the shift in her demeanor. Concern etched across his face, he gently grasped her shoulder.
“Are you okay? You seem off. Is something bothering you p>
His voice pulled Jenessa back to reality, and she quickly shook off Ryan’s ghost from her mind.
She looked up at Richard, her expression softening, and shook her head.
“It’s nothing. I think I’m just a bit worn out. I had to go to the police station early this morning, and I guess it’s catching up with me p>
Richard’s brow furrowed with worry, immediately connecting her exhaustion to the tense exchange she must have had with Samuel at the station.
