Chapter 665
Chapter 665:
To put an end to that lingering hope, Brinley decided to make a call.
“Hi, could you give me an update on how Ryan’s engagement went today p>
After a brief pause, she received the answer.
“Everything went smoothly. After the ceremony, Ryan left with Maisie to attend to her, and his secretary took over entertaining the guests.” Brinley put the phone on speaker, letting Jenessa hear every word.
“Thank you p>
Once Brinley ended the call, she turned to Jenessa with an expression that seemed to say, “I told you so p>
Ryan had left with Maisie. There was no way he could have appeared at Jenessa’s engagement party, much less come to her rescue.
Jenessa lowered her gaze, convincing herself that it had truly been just a figment of her imagination.
“Jennie, it’s time to let go of Ryan for good,” Brinley said, starting the car again.
“He’s not worth all the pain you’ve held onto. You deserve to move forward p>
Jenessa took a deep breath and nodded firmly.
“You’re right. I’m engaged to Richard now. I’ll leave the past behind p>
After a brief drive, Brinley brought Jenessa to Richard’s house, where a private doctor soon arrived to check on her.
“It’s nothing major,” the doctor assured.

“You’re just a bit rundown, likely from not getting enough rest p>
Jenessa nodded, offering an explanation.
“I had trouble sleeping last night, with the engagement party and everything.” The doctor continued, “You have anemia, though, and now that you’re expecting twins, you need extra nutrition. I recommend cutting back on work, getting plenty of rest, and taking care of yourself before the babies arrive p>
Jenessa considered this for a moment before agreeing.
“Alright, I’ll schedule my work properly later p>
It was clear she’d need to take it easy after the design competition.
Richard returned shortly after.
As soon as Jenessa saw him, she asked, “How are the startled guests p>
Sitting beside her, Richard gently took her hand.
“They are fine. What happened today was just a fluke—don’t let it weigh on you p>
Brinley chimed in, “Do you know what caused the power outage p>
Richard replied calmly, “The hotel manager said there was an issue with the wiring. They’re offering compensation for any inconvenience. I didn’t press the issue, and I’ve already distributed the compensation to the guests. Thankfully, no one was hurt, though we couldn’t track down who screamed during the blackout p>
Jenessa nodded, accepting his explanation.
“Since it was just an accident, let’s not dwell on it. The engagement party’s behind us now p>
Richard gave a small nod and then asked, his eyes on Jenessa’s, “The doctor checked on you, right p>
“Yes. He said I’m alright, just need to rest,” Jenessa replied softly.
