Chapter 710
Chapter 710:
Brinley shot a glance at Richard before leaning in and whispering in Jenessa’s ear, “It was Allen. I convinced him to play the part p>
Jenessa’s eyes widened in shock. Allen? Of all people, she hadn’t expected him to get involved in something like this for Brinley.
“Did you blackmail him or something p>
Allen was a prominent lawyer, well-respected in his field. If word got out that he’d pretended to be Brinley’s kept man, his reputation could take a serious hit.
Brinley muttered under her breath, “I told him if he didn’t help me, I’d show up at his firm and tell everyone he’s impotent p>
Jenessa’s eyes widened as she covered her mouth, barely able to believe what she’d just heard. Brinley had really gone all out. But had Allen really fallen for her bluff? It didn’t seem right.
Richard, noticing the secretive exchange, narrowed his eyes.
“What are you two going on about?” he asked, his tone suspicious.
“Nothing you’d get,” Brinley shot back, waving him off. She turned back to Jenessa, her expression a mix of frustration and worry.
“I thought ruining that blind date would put an end to it, but now my parents found out Allen’s a lawyer. Instead of being upset, they’re all for it! They want me to bring him home to meet them, like we’re actually going to get married. I don’t get it. I told them he’s my kept man. Why don’t they care p>
Jenessa couldn’t help but grin.
“Why don’t you just go with it? Marry Allen, and your parents will finally stop bugging you. Besides, he seems like a decent guy p>
Brinley’s face scrunched up in disbelief.

“What? No way! I don’t want to marry him! That idiot! I can’t stand him. No chance p>
As soon as the words left her mouth, a familiar voice chimed in, slow and deliberate.
“Brinley, you might want to think about that. Who exactly are you calling an idiot p>
Jenessa hadn’t expected Allen to show up, so when he suddenly appeared in the doorway, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
Before Jenessa could say anything, Brinley, clearly not noticing Allen’s arrival, ranted on.
“Oh, just that idiot Allen! Looks decent, but guess what? He’s impotent! Doesn’t he know how humiliating he is p>
Jenessa widened her eyes in terror. She glanced at her friend, realizing Brinley had crossed the line—and worse, she was far too drunk to notice Allen standing just feet away.
Allen was already boiling with rage.
Jenessa cleared her throat, trying to salvage the situation.
“Uh, Brinley, maybe you should sober up. Take a good look at who just walked in p>
Brinley blinked, wobbling as she tried to focus on the blurry figure at the door.
Allen’s outline shifted in her vision, doubling, then tripling. Her drunken brain couldn’t make sense of it.
Suddenly, she grinned and, with a dramatic sway, threw an arm around Allen’s neck.
“Well, hello there, handsome!” she slurred, eyes half-lidded in mischief.
“You single? ‘Cause I’m in the market for a husband, and you look like you’ve got family pressuring you about marriage. How ’bout we strike a deal p>
