Chapter 297
Chapter 297:
He regained his composure and asked, “Where and when did you meet her p>
Nicolas explained, “The Raji Group had Evelyn Ramirez invite me to a business dinner recently. When I got there, I saw Evelyn trying to cause problems for Sloane, but Sloane handled it well p>
He paused and sighed.
“But with the Raji Group’s influence, Sloane might face difficulties for having crossed Evelyn p>
Ryan’s expression darkened again.
The thought of Evelyn causing trouble for Jenessa infuriated him.
Even though they were divorced, in Ryan’s heart, Jenessa was still his to protect, and he wouldn’t allow anyone to harm her.
“Mr. Wiggins, I need to ask for your help,” Ryan said with a serious tone after a moment of thought.
Nicolas looked a bit surprised.
“Why so serious all of a sudden? You’re making me nervous. Go on, tell me p>
Meanwhile, after dismissing the colorist, Jenessa settled her bill and left.
On her way back, Jenessa sharply noticed someone appeared to be tailing her.
Having faced many accidents before, Jenessa instantly became cautious. She suspected that it might be the male colorist, upset and seeking an opportunity for revenge.
After a brief moment of thought, Jenessa devised a plan.
She quickened her pace and distinctly heard the person behind her do the same.
As she walked, Jenessa suddenly veered into an alley.
Simultaneously, she swiftly pulled the mace from her bag and aimed it at the approaching figure.
Ryan was quick to react, grabbing Jenessa’s wrist with his other hand.
“What do you think you’re doing? Trying to kill me, or blind me?” he asked, his voice low and raspy.
Jenessa was so startled that she nearly lost her grip on the mace.
As her eyes adjusted and she recognized the figure before her, relief washed over her.
“Ryan, why are you here at this hour p>
Noticing the mace in Jenessa’s hands, Ryan released his grip slowly.
“Why are you out here by yourself so late?” he asked, sidestepping her question.
“No comment,” Jenessa replied sharply, eyeing Ryan with suspicion.
“But I could ask you the same. Are you following me intentionally p>
Seeing the defensive look in her eyes, Ryan felt a surge of annoyance. Did she truly see him as malicious?
“I’m here because I was meeting an old friend, and then I ran into you,” Ryan explained, his tone tinged with frustration.
“Don’t overthink it p>
Jenessa put the mace away and pressed further, “Then why sneak up on me silently? I thought someone was trying to attack me p>
Ryan’s eyes softened, showing a flicker of pity and guilt. He spoke more gently, trying to reassure her.
