Chapter 508
Chapter 508:
Looking at Ryan, she noticed the dark circles under his eyes and couldn’t help but ask, “Has work been a lot lately? You look exhausted p>
Ryan’s heart skipped a beat, but on the surface, he managed to stay calm.
“Yeah, work is eating me alive p>
After thinking for a while, Jenessa suggested, “Then go and take a shower so you can go to bed early tonight. I’ll give you a massage to help you fall asleep faster p>
Ryan was deeply touched by her consideration, but thinking about Maisie, he felt too guilty to even look Jenessa in the eye.
He subconsciously pulled her into a warm embrace, his chin resting on top of her head. He closed his eyes and asked in a hoarse voice, “Jenessa, don’t leave me again p>
Jenessa was stunned, not knowing why he would say that all of a sudden.
She curved her lips into a smile and reached out to stroke his back lovingly.
“I promise I’ll never leave you, as long as you don’t give me a reason to leave you. Deal p>
But instead of feeling comforted, Ryan stiffened.
Feeling his strange reaction, Jenessa pulled away from his hug and joked, “What’s the matter with you? Are you hiding something from me p>
Ryan’s heart leaped to his throat, and he quickly denied it, “No, of course not p>
Then he stood up and hurriedly retreated to the bathroom.
Jenessa watched him scamper away, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. Ryan was acting really weirdly today.
But Jenessa chalked her suspicions up to her “pregnancy brain,” so she quickly let go of her doubts.
Humming a cheerful tune, she picked up Ryan’s discarded coat, intending to take it to the laundry room with his other clothes later.
Coincidentally, Ryan’s phone vibrated in his jacket pocket just as she picked it up.
Jenessa took out his phone without thinking and saw the message flashing on the screen.
She tapped on it, and when she saw its contents, she was stunned.
When Ryan emerged from the bathroom, he noticed Jenessa in a daze, staring at his phone.
His heart skipped a beat. Quickly, he walked over and retrieved his phone.
“Jenessa, what were you looking at?” he asked, striving to sound nonchalant while masking his nerves with a forced smile.
Jenessa looked up, a playful smile spreading across her face.
“Trying to keep secrets from me? I saw it. You bought me a diamond ring secretly p>
Relief washed over Ryan as he glanced at his phone and noticed a message from a jeweler confirming the ring style they had discussed, along with congratulations on their upcoming wedding.
Feeling a burst of joy, Jenessa reached for his hand, guiding him to sit beside her.
“Ryan, don’t spend so much. The ring you gave me before is wonderful p>
Ryan grasped her hand, his response firm.
“No, for our wedding, I want to give you the very best. Let’s put the past behind us and start anew p>
