Jenessa blinked, her breath catching in her throat. A mixture of surprise and bewilderment washed over her.
“Recommended me?” she echoed, confusion evident in her tone.
“Who could that be p>
“The chairman of the Reynolds Group, Mr. Jonathan Reynolds, is the sponsor of this year’s competition,” the manager said.
“I heard he fell in love with your work when you took the clothes you designed to the exhibition abroad. That’s why he decided to recommend you as a judge for the competition p>
Surprised, Jenessa said, “But I didn’t meet him at the last exhibition. And p>
She paused, her face reddening in embarrassment.
“He wanted to buy my work, but I refused to sell it to him. Why would he recommend me p>
The manager’s eyebrows went up in surprise. He hadn’t known this.
“Maybe your talent outweighs whatever happened,” he replied.

Jenessa was suddenly curious about Jonathan. Who was he, and why was he so interested in her design? “Can you help me get in touch with Mr. Reynolds? I want to meet him,” she said.
The manager smiled apologetically and said, “I’m sorry, but that won’t be possible for now. However, you may get to see him once the competition begins p>
Jenessa decided not to push the matter any further and nodded her agreement.
Jonathan, as the chairman of a company, must be very busy.

After a few more moments of discussion, Jenessa finally understood what the competition was about and decided to sign the contract.
“I hope our partnership will be a pleasant one, Miss Todd,” the manager said, putting away the contract.
“In a week’s time, the news will be announced on our official account. We will inform you when it’s time. Please spread the word p>
“No problem,” Jenessa replied.
Soon after leaving, she received a call from Brinley.
“Are you free this evening? I want to have dinner with you tonight,” Brinley said.
“That’s perfect. I happen to have something to tell you,” Jenessa replied readily.
She met up with Brinley at a nearby restaurant and told her about the contract she signed with the manager of the design competition.
“That’s wonderful. Congratulations, Jenessa! You’re so good at what you do that you’re now qualified to judge others,” Brinley said happily.
Thoughtfully, she continued, “It’s surprising that Jonathan acknowledges your talent in design. I just thought he was a rich man with a bad temper when I saw his daughter that day. I didn’t expect him to recommend you to the competition organizers p>
