Chapter 645
Chapter 645:
“Since you’re already digging into the competitors’ details, I’ll get straight to it. I’m entering the design competition this year, and I expect you, as a judge, to ensure I take home the championship. That’s all p>
Jenessa’s brows furrowed, her disgust clear as she locked eyes with Hilda. Was she really hearing this right? “What did you just say?” Jenessa’s voice held an edge of disbelief.
Hilda wanted her to rig the competition?
Hilda, unfazed by Jenessa’s reaction, sank into the sofa, crossing her legs with a lazy grace.
“Why else do you think my father recommended you? Sure, you’ve got some reputation and experience, but more importantly, you’re someone I can control. Do as I say—make me the winner—and trust me, you’ll reap the rewards p>
Jenessa’s face hardened. She dropped her gaze back to the papers, confirming Hilda’s name was indeed among the participants.
Looking up again, her tone grew icy.
“When I signed that contract with the competition organizers, no one mentioned helping competitors cheat. Besides, the entire event is supposed to be fair and transparent. No one is above the rules, not even you p>
Hilda shrugged, her tone light.
“Rules are one thing; my word is another. You don’t have to change a thing. I mean, in every industry, do people really care about playing fair? My father is the chairman of the Reynolds Group. No one’s going to challenge me anyway. All you need to do is follow my lead p>
Jenessa could hardly believe how casually Hilda dismissed integrity.

Sure, Hilda might have the luxury of pulling strings, but in this competition, it wasn’t about titles or connections. It was about talent and grit, no matter who you were.
If she gave Hilda high marks just because of her last name, wouldn’t that betray the very purpose of the competition? To find the best of the best?
Any designer with true passion wouldn’t sell out like that, no matter the pressure.
The more Jenessa thought about it, the more she recoiled at the idea.
She didn’t flinch as she answered Hilda, “I won’t do that for you p>
Hilda’s eyes widened in shock at Jenessa’s unexpected response. Rising to her feet, she glared at her.
“Do you even realize what you’re saying? How dare you refuse me? Are you out of your mind p>
She had never imagined Jenessa would turn her down so easily. After all, in her mind, she was offering Jenessa a golden opportunity.
But Jenessa’s tone remained icy.
“Miss Reynolds, I won’t ever stoop to cheating. If you’ve entered this competition, then you need to play by the rules and accept the judges’ decisions like everyone else. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got work to do p>
Hilda’s face twisted in anger.
“Have I been too kind to you? Is that why you’re talking back to me like this? Don’t forget, my father got you that judge’s seat. Do you honestly think you’d be in such a prestigious design competition on your own merit? If you keep this up, I can have you replaced with a single word—believe that p>
“Miss Reynolds, I’ve already signed a contract with the organizers. I’m simply doing my job. But if you’ve got an issue with me, go ahead and use your family name to have me removed. Just remember to cover the hefty cancellation fee the organizers will owe me. Either way, I’ll still get what I’m owed. So, if you want to make that move, go right ahead. It’s no skin off my nose p>
