Chapter 545
Chapter 545:
“Jenessa, please don’t go. There really is something important I have to tell you p>
He reached out to grab her hand, but she deftly pulled away.
“We can talk in the café across the street,” she said, narrowing her eyes into icy slits.
“But I’m warning you, if you touch me again, we’re done talking p>
Without waiting for his response, Jenessa strode purposefully towards the café.
Expression grim, Ryan trotted after her, the weight of desperation suffocating him.
This was his last chance, and he had to make it count.
Once inside the café, Ryan and Jenessa took seats opposite each other. Meanwhile, Rohan discreetly had the café cleared out, booking all the tables and ushering the patrons away.
Jenessa’s frown deepened as she watched the last of the patrons leave, the place eerily empty except for the two of them.
“Is this your doing?” she asked, her voice sharp.
Ryan nodded, meeting her gaze.
“I didn’t want anyone to disturb us p>
Jenessa’s lips curled into a bitter smile.
“Or maybe you didn’t want witnesses to hear whatever you have to say p>
Despite her simmering anger, she somehow managed to maintain her composure.
“Well, aren’t you going to talk? Spit it out already. My time is precious p>
Ryan clenched his fists, his knuckles whitening as he struggled to find the words he dreaded to say.
But he had to confess, no matter how difficult it would be. His voice trembled as he began, “Jenessa, I only slept with Maisie once, and it was an accident. I was so drunk that I have no memory of it. As for her baby… don’t worry. I can take care of it p>
Jenessa’s eyes widened in disbelief, a bitter laugh escaping her lips.
“Ryan, do you really expect me to believe such a pathetic lie? You’ve been seeing Maisie for years; I’m sure you’ve slept with her countless times p>
After all, during their three years of marriage, she had witnessed firsthand just how intense Ryan’s needs in bed were. The idea that he had only been with Maisie once seemed impossible.
She refused to dwell on these trivial matters and pressed on, her voice sharp and unyielding.
“And what do you mean by ‘taking care of the baby’? Are you talking about an abortion p>
Her eyes bore into his, filled with a mix of confusion and disgust.
Ryan fell silent, his head lowering in a silent admission.
A wave of fresh disappointment washed over Jenessa, her heart sinking to the pit of her stomach. She shook her head, her voice incredulous as she said, “Ryan, I just realized I never really knew you. Maisie is pregnant with your child. No matter how hard you tried to keep it from me, that baby is real. I’ve heard that she’s almost four weeks pregnant, Ryan. It’s a life—a living human—yet you talk about aborting it so casually p>
Her chest tightened with a mix of sorrow and anger.
She couldn’t bear to look at him any longer, each glance a painful reminder of his betrayal and the baby with Maisie.
Their relationship had crossed a point of no return, far too complicated to untangle easily.
Suddenly, Jenessa sprang to her feet, her eyes blazing with intensity.
“Ryan, in this mess, both you and Maisie are at fault. It’s the child who is innocent, and it’s high time you take responsibility for your stupid actions,” she declared, her voice firm and unyielding.
She grabbed her bag, ready to storm out.
Ryan, however, wasn’t ready to let her go. Desperation etched on his face, he grabbed her arm and cried, “Jenessa, wait! I swear, I have no memory of what happened that night. When I woke up, Maisie was just lying there, and I was so hungover p>
His voice trembled as he struggled to explain, but Jenessa had heard enough. She recoiled, her expression a mix of disbelief and disgust. Why on earth was he telling her this? She wasn’t interested in the intimate details between Ryan and Maisie.
“Let me go,” she commanded, her tone icy.
