Chapter 41
Chapter 41:
Maisie gave a soft nod and began to leave.
However, as she neared the doorway, Ryan called out, “Maisie, did you by any chance touch my phone? It was off when I woke up p>
The question made Maisie’s heart skip. She paused, smiling calmly as she turned to face him.
“No, I didn’t touch it. It was quite chaotic last night with everyone being so drunk. Maybe it got knocked off accidentally p>
Ryan looked at her smile and decided to let the matter go, nodding without further questions.
Feeling relieved, Maisie left the room quietly.
Once alone, Ryan sat back on the bed, lost in thought. The numerous missed calls from Jenessa and her odd tone during their short conversation lingered in his mind.
It was unusual for Jenessa to call him so persistently. They had been married for years, and she typically refrained from calling multiple times, especially knowing he might be occupied. Clearly, something was amiss.
Unable to reach Jenessa, his concern deepened.
He then dialed Rohan.
“Check on Jenessa’s whereabouts immediately,” he instructed firmly.
“Jenessa p>
Alone in the interrogation room, Jenessa heard Brinley’s voice echoing from a distance.
Her heart, weighed down by loneliness and despair, suddenly lit up with hope.

“It’s okay, I’m here now, don’t be afraid!” Bursting through the door, Brinley swept Jenessa into a comforting embrace.
The warmth from Brinley’s hug washed over Jenessa, filling her with a profound sense of relief.
She held on to Brinley, her voice breaking with emotion.
“Brinley, thank you. I’m so relieved you’re here p>
After ending a hopeless call to Ryan, Jenessa had reached out to Brinley for help.
Without hesitation, Brinley had come rushing to her side.
“I’ve brought a lawyer with me who is currently negotiating with the police outside. We should be able to get you out of here soon,” Brinley said, trying to soothe her.
Tears welled up in Jenessa’s eyes, yet a knot of anxiety remained in her stomach.
Shortly after, the lawyer returned with a solemn look.
“Ms. Wright, we’re facing a tough situation. You’ve accused the other party of attempted rape without any corroborative evidence. On the other hand, there’s undeniable proof of your assault on him. Tucker Reilly has also undergone a medical examination and is not inclined to settle. Before the medical results, we can’t secure your release on bail p>
Brinley’s face contorted with rage.
“That vile man! If only I could make him pay p>
Jenessa exhaled deeply, her resolve unwavering.
“I refuse to back down or pay for his medical expenses. He attempted to rape me; I cannot let him simply walk away free p>
“Don’t worry. Although we lack evidence now, we will find it. I will uncover proof of his wrongdoing,” Brinley declared, then left with the lawyer to continue their search for evidence.
