Yet Maisie’s expression darkened. Why hadn’t Ryan made his stance clear? When would he divorce Jenessa and commit to her?
Frustration simmered in Maisie’s eyes, but she held back, fearful that pushing Ryan might push him away.
As she brooded, a vibration startled her from the sofa beside her. Instinctively, she turned and saw Ryan’s forgotten phone. The screen lit up with an incoming call from Jenessa.
Seeing Jenessa’s name on the screen, Maisie’s eyes flashed with rage. How dare that woman call Ryan’s phone? What did she want? She was just his wife on paper; Ryan didn’t actually care about her!
Infuriated, Maisie angrily hung up on Jenessa. Then, moving swiftly, she turned off Ryan’s phone and put it back where she had found it, her expression calm. Whatever Jenessa was planning, Maisie was determined not to let her succeed.
A few moments later, Ryan returned and sat down. His first instinct was to reach for his phone, but Maisie quickly grabbed his outstretched arm. Using her soft, coquettish voice, she diverted his attention.
“Ryan, I’ve done nothing but rest ever since I came back. I think it’s high time I started working again, don’t you think p>
Kane chimed in at the perfect moment.
“Hey, Maisie, I heard Fashion Week’s about to start. Ryan, why not let Maisie make an appearance? It’s the perfect opportunity for her comeback p>
“Good idea,” Ryan replied, momentarily forgetting about his phone. Maisie had come back home to recuperate, but she didn’t want her career to suffer. Ryan had already made arrangements for her work.

Someone else added, “Speaking of comebacks, did you guys hear about Sloane Todd, the famous fashion designer? She announced recently that she’s back. If you could get her to create something for Maisie, it would definitely skyrocket Maisie’s modeling career p>
Ryan’s interest was instantly piqued.
“Sloane Todd’s back? Since when? How come I had no idea p>
Ryan had a good impression of Sloane Todd. A few years ago, he had seen Sloane’s designs online and was amazed by her extraordinary talents. Her abrupt retirement had dealt a significant blow to the fashion industry, given her status as a design prodigy.
Kane was eager to join in on the gossip.
“You’re hardly online, right? She tweeted about her comeback a few days ago. A lot of the other designers have been hating on her because they doubt her ability to create something good after such a long hiatus. Everyone’s waiting to see how Sloane responds to their skepticism p>
