Chapter 275
Chapter 275:
Devastated, Maisie slumped to the floor. She had no excuse.
Ryan shook his head in disappointment.
“If I hadn’t arrived in time that day, you would have never pretended to be the victim, would you? Maisie, it crushes me to even think of what could have happened to Jenessa if I were hours late p>
His voice was thick with emotion. He was utterly disillusioned with Maisie.
“I thought I made myself clear when I warned you not to do anything to harm Jenessa again,” Ryan continued, his voice low and menacing.
“But it seems like you never took my words seriously p>
Maisie’s head jerked up to look at him, her eyes wide with terror.
“I’m sorry, Ryan! I really am! I won’t do it again, I promise! Please, help me just this once p>
Ryan scoffed, his lips curling into a smirk.
“Of course, I’ll help you…” Before Maisie could sigh in relief, he added, “I will have my lawyer reduce your sentence. If that’s even possible p>
Maisie gaped at him in disbelief. She felt as though Ryan had just kicked her into the void.
Maisie panicked. Ryan would only help reduce her sentence? What difference would that make if she still had to serve prison time?
She screamed, “No, I can’t go to prison! My life will be ruined if I’m thrown behind bars! You can’t let this happen, Ryan. You can’t do this to me p>

Her face twisted into an ugly expression, far removed from the usual image of gentility she projected.
Ryan simply looked at her for a moment before turning on his heel to leave.
“Ryan, wait!” Maisie cried out desperately.
“Are you going to forget all about it? How I risked my life to save yours? You promised to marry me, and I believed you! You did nothing but keep me waiting. Do you know how much fear and suffering I endured while I was abroad? I was terrified of losing you. I felt like I had no choice but to eliminate Jenessa from the picture. It’s all your fault! You shouldn’t have stalled! You should have kept your promise from the start! You are the one to be blamed p>
Her rants stopped Ryan in his tracks. He turned his head slightly, his gaze lowered.
Everything Maisie said was true. She had saved his life, yet he had broken his promise to her and married another.
It was the final blow to his conscience.
Ryan closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“Fine. I will help you one last time p>
Maisie’s eyes lit up, and a smile of relief spread across her face.
“But after this,” Ryan added slowly, “I will send you back abroad. And you will never come back p>
Just like that, Maisie dissolved into tears again.
“Are you going to cut me off? No, I refuse p>
“This is my last mercy to you. If you won’t take it, then I’m afraid there’s nothing more I can do for you. Think about your options carefully p>
All the color drained from Maisie’s face, her shoulders slumping in defeat. She had no more fight left in her.
