Chapter 14
Chapter 14:
“Miss Powell, let me help you with that,” a maid offered.
Smiling gently, Maisie shook her head, insisting on doing it herself.
“Don’t worry, I can manage. It’s quite heavy. Thank you for the offer though p>
The maid was taken aback by Maisie’s kindness, having expected an arrogant rich lady.
Ryan, however, disagreed with Maisie’s sentiments.
“Let the maids handle it. You need to watch your health p>
Maisie finally relented, allowing the maid to take the suitcase. She lightly touched her left wrist, revealing a noticeable scar.
“You’re right. I shouldn’t push myself p>
Ryan’s expression softened, his eyes reflecting a complicated mix of emotions. Remembering how the lonely Maisie had almost taken her own life abroad, he felt a deep sense of guilt. And it was precisely this guilt that drove him to bring her back home to take care of her.
Seeing the guilt in Ryan’s eyes, Maisie felt a surge of satisfaction.
“Alright, Ryan. Whatever you say.” She linked his arm affectionately, purring like a cat.
“As long as you’re with me, I’ll be fine p>
They walked into the villa arm in arm.
In the living room, Maisie looked around before asking, “ISO, where’s Jenessa? Doesn’t she live here? I really want to meet her p>
Turning to a maid, Maisie instructed, “Please call Jenessa downstairs. I’d like to chat with her p>

Maisie spoke with the confidence and authority of the lady of the house.
Jenessa, who had been watching from the upstairs balcony, had witnessed everything. She hadn’t planned to show her face, but now, she had no choice.
Squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to console herself. With her impending divorce, she had to face this situation sooner or later.
Jenessa took a deep breath and then walked downstairs resolutely.
“Don’t bother; I’m right here p>
As soon as Jenessa descended the stairs, Maisie greeted her warmly.
“Cod! I’ve missed you so much! It’s been ages since we last met p>
Maisie’s gentle smile quickly shifted to a concerned look as she took in Jenessa’s appearance.
“Jenessa, are you okay? You don’t look so good p>
Feigning concern, Maisie patted Jenessa’s hand chummily, then cast a reproachful glance at Ryan.
“Ryan, are you not taking good care of her? Even though you’re getting a divorce, you should still fulfill your responsibilities as her husband until the end p>
Ryan silently rolled his eyes. Jenessa had always avoided him like the plague, so why bother?
“You’re right about one thing, Maisie—we are indeed getting divorced,” he said coldly.
“Which means she’s no longer my concern. I don’t plan on wasting my time on irrelevant people p>
Once again, Jenessa felt a sharp pang in her heart. It turned out she had always been nothing but an “irrelevant person” to him.
