Chapter 655
Chapter 655:
Either way, Jenessa wasn’t eager to dwell on it. Yet, as she looked at the images of Ryan and Maisie together, a dull ache quietly gnawed at her heart.
Drawing a deep breath, Jenessa resisted the urge to react. Just as she was about to brush it off, her phone rang. Instinctively, she answered, not expecting the smug voice on the other end to belong to Maisie.
“Did you like the photos I sent? How does it feel? Jealous much? Ryan and I are getting engaged, by the way. Funny thing, we’re using the same hotel you and Richard booked. Oh, and the same date, too p>
Jenessa managed to keep her emotions in check, replying with an icy tone, “What on earth are you trying to pull? Do you want to end up back in jail p>
Maisie had anticipated the sound of Jenessa breaking down in tears. What she didn’t expect was Jenessa’s calmness, which instead hit a nerve and rattled her.
Recalling the days she had spent locked away, Maisie’s anger flared instantly. She clenched her teeth and spat out, “Jenessa Wright! If you hadn’t set me up, I never would’ve ended up in jail! Humph! But thankfully, Ryan still loves me. He went to great lengths to rescue me.” She chuckled smugly, adding, “I bet you’re green with jealousy. I know you care about him deeply, but the truth is, he’s always loved me. You’re just a pathetic loser. No matter how much you try to sabotage me, you won’t succeed. Ryan will always be by my side p>
Jenessa felt a sharp pang of pain in her heart as she listened to Maisie’s words.
She clenched her fists, silently reminding herself not to let it bother her any further.
“Maisie, I don’t think there’s anything more to say. Don’t contact me again, or I might just send you back to jail.” She then ended the call and promptly blocked Maisie’s number.
She sank back into her seat, taking a deep breath. Maisie’s words had cast a shadow of depression over her. She had resolved to put Ryan behind her and focus on building a better life for herself. But why was she still letting his issues affect her?

Jenessa opened the photos Maisie had sent once more and felt a pang of realization about just how much Ryan now loved Maisie. She couldn’t help but think about the promise he had once made to her.
She couldn’t help but let out a sarcastic laugh.
Ryan was a master of deception. What was even more absurd was that she kept falling for his lies time and time again. How foolish she must have seemed!
Yet, she was grateful to have discovered his deceit before the wedding, allowing her to break things off with him decisively.
She was confident that, with time, she would forget about Ryan and embrace a fresh start that was truly hers. Thinking of this brought Jenessa a sense of relief.
Determined to move on, she resolved to close the photos and delete the email, cutting ties with the past and its trivial concerns.
But as her hand reached for the mouse, something caught her eye.
She peered closer at the pictures on the screen, a frown forming as she noticed something strange.
The beautiful diamond ring on Maisie’s finger was not the customized one Jenessa had seen at the jewelry store.
She was sure the shop assistant had been talking about Ryan.
And she was sure she hadn’t been mistaken about the gem.
She remembered vividly when Ryan had purchased the gem at the auction. Didn’t he intend to give it to Maisie? Wasn’t the ring for Maisie? Who else could be the person dearest to Ryan’s heart?
It suddenly dawned on Jenessa how ridiculous she was for thinking about such things.
